Full Job Description
Team Mission:

The mission of the product analytics team at Shiftsmart is to work closely with our internal teams and customers to use our own proprietary data to drive meaningful outcomes. We work with all teams across Shiftsmart to lead end-to-end projects, grow customer relationships, deliver objective analysis and insights, and execute strategic initiatives. Help transform raw data into well-structured, reliable datasets that analysts, data scientists, and business teams can use to make better decisions. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and analytics: you'll work with data pipelines, SQL, and transformation tools, while also thinking about how end users consume the data.

This role is based in New York City (HQ) with typically 3+ days per week in the office.

Outcomes:

Your role will evolve alongside our customer base, but some of your early responsibilities will include;
  • Customer Analytics & Reporting: Own customer-facing reporting and analytics across key retail accounts, surfacing insights through customer-facing web portals, and ad hoc analytical requests from the Customer Team.
  • Scalable Analytics & Forecasting: Support accurate reporting as our system expands and new accounts are added, you will help ensure customer data needs are met without slowing down broader strategic initiatives and new initiatives. Your role will be critical in maintaining responsiveness while enabling the team to scale.
  • Production Planning & Operational Support: Manage and ensure timely and accurate updates to production plans and operational data to strengthen the reliability of our forecasting and operational outputs as we scale.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure customer data needs are accurately reflected in internal systems. You will act as a bridge between customer requests and internal execution, helping balance immediate reporting needs with long-term data infrastructure improvements.

Competencies:

Do you have what it takes to design, launch, and scale initiatives to fundamentally change labor? Here are the attributes you'll need:
  • Analytically-minded: You have 2-5+ years experience in an analytical role (e.g. data analyst, bizops, business intelligence), and ideally in startups.
  • Technical skills: You have strong experience with SQL and an understanding of a scripting language like Python or R. Preferably experience with Git.
  • Problem solver: You thrive working through and solving complex problems, quickly learn and adapt to new situations, and synthesize the abstract into the concrete.
  • Highly organized: You think in systems and process, relish bringing structure to ambiguity, ruthlessly prioritize, and feel organization is second nature to you.
  • Clear communicator: You are an excellent writer (memos, slides) and excel at making the complex simple to empower decision-making.
  • Influence: You effectively partner with others to get things done even without formal authority.

Compensation philosophy

To provide greater transparency we share base salary ranges, which are based on role and level benchmarked against similar stage, high growth companies. Offers are determined based on multiple factors including skills, work experience, and relevant credentials.

In addition to competitive salaries and meaningful equity we offer the following benefits:
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage: We cover 100% of employee premiums for medical, dental, and vision care (60-75% for dependents)
  • 401(k) match program: We match 100% on the first 3% of your contributions and 50% on the next 2% for a maximum match of 4%
  • Generous, fully paid parental and family leave policies
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Collaborative office with fully stocked kitchen @ 1 World Trade in Manhattan
