Full Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Negotiates with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee
  2. Strategically aligning with the right vendors and keeping management team informed of new products, market conditions and current prices through customer contact
  3. Evaluate vendor performance
  4. Establishes purchasing policies and ensures compliance
  5. Develops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate
  6. Examines bids and makes awards
  7. Establishes account/credit terms
  8. Negotiates blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitors cost during the time period
  9. Checks requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers
  10. Works closely with Receiving Department to ensure proper supplies arrived
  11. Traces delinquent arrivals from Purchase Orders
  12. Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with Federal laws
  13. Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics
  14. Perform other related duties as required


Education and/or Experience
  1. Bachelor's Degree, in a business-related area
  2. Seven years of prior experience
  3. Annually purchasing $5 Million in raw materials

Travel

This position requires minimal to no travel

Computer Skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
  • Demonstrated proficiency using EPICOR ERP or similar systems

  2. Develop purchasing strategy by commodities for each division
  3. Reduce lead times through creative purchasing methods
  4. Provide cost reductions and rebate program in purchased material and freight
  5. Develop a plan to reduce inventory and methods to better track inventory of raw material and finished goods in conjunction with the Operations Managers for Weld and Lamination
  6. Fulfill requests for quotes in a timely manner for all aspects of Porter Corp.
  7. Keep management team informed of financial trends and new product development
