Michael Foods, Inc. located in Gaylord, Minnesota is Minnesota's Healthy Heartland! Gaylord is located in south central Minnesota about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Our location produces liquid egg, hardcook egg, and precooked egg such as scrambled, patties and omelets.
Responsibilities

*This will be an onsite role 3 days a week at the Gaylord Michael Foods facility and 2 days a week supporting the Chaska Michael Foods facility. *

Hours: Monday-Friday standard business hours to support the business need.

SUMMARY:

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager. The role supports both sites from a PSM oversight and coordination role. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance to Process Safety Management Standard as defined at the facility and as defined in MFI Safety Policies and Procedures. The position will provide support to Maintenance Storeroom & Planner Functions, Maintenance leadership and Maintenance Work force as needed in both locations. This position will have a direct influence on tracking of MFI Maintenance Key performance indicators. Candidate must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision, work within set deadlines, ability to work with team members.

This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Champion, model, and actively reinforce Michael Foods' culture, values, and safety-first principles across both sites.
  • Provide leadership-level oversight to ensure compliance with all Department and Plant procedures, including PPE standards.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with plant safety, food safety, sanitation requirements, and all applicable GMP regulations at both locations.
  • Serve in a cross-site leadership capacity providing Process Safety Management (PSM) oversight, coordination, and strategic guidance.
  • Maintain accountability for facility compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management standards and MFI Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Partner with Maintenance leadership to support strategic planning, continuous improvement, and execution of Maintenance Storeroom, Planning, and workforce initiatives.
  • Influence, analyze, and report Maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support operational effectiveness and business objectives.
  • Lead PSM and Environmental programs, including EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) requirements, ensuring alignment with regulatory and corporate standards.
    • Act as a lead or ad-hoc leader for select SRMP-related Element 12 teams.
    • Direct the implementation and sustainability of PSM/RMP-compliant programs at both sites.
    • Provide subject-matter oversight for ammonia refrigeration systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational integrity.
    • Exercise authority over Management of Change (MOC) documentation control processes.
    • Lead PSM audit preparation, participate in audits, and oversee post-audit corrective action tracking and closure documentation.
    • Accountable for maintaining, analyzing, and reporting environmental compliance data to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.

EDUCATION:

Technical degree in HVAC or ammonia systems recommended; a four-year science or engineering degree preferred. Process Safety Management experience preferred, along with 5-7 years of manufacturing and utilities experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office and CMMS System (Preferably SAP).
  • Must be able to read and interpret various forms of documents and translate the data into a computerized inventory control system.
  • Good math, oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment.
  • Highly effective multi-tasker; resourceful with a "get-it-done, can-do" attitude and a selfstarter.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with all team peers and customers.
  • Ability to organize and maintain accurate records and data.
  • Ability to travel for training and continuous improvement activities
  • Detail oriented and experienced with software reporting


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to endure daily excessive walking, standing, crouching, lifting, twisting, climbing, & reaching.
The pay range for this position is $70,386 - $98,541 per year.
