Full Job Description
Basic Function

Conducts engineering duties for an assigned Engineering discipline and functions as a technical specialist, formulating and developing advanced engineering concepts. Provide backfill or supplemental support to operating unit teams including on shift turnaround support and abnormal situation management

Job Duties

  • For FEL-1 phase this role will need to own the Framing Workshop, develop the basic data (flow rates, compositions, intermediate & final product specifications, pressure, temperatures, etc.), work with E&S to ensure appropriate economics and complete the other identified deliverables necessary for the project to proceed into FEL-2 phase
  • Prepare mark ups of PFDs and P&IDs
  • Develop the process scope of work to be performed by the engineering firms for the various stage gates. Ensure scope is properly covered in engineering contractor plan.
  • Is responsible for managing the integrated technical team to deliver the final process design. Ensures the process design team provides the necessary data to finalize documentation as defined by the DCAF. Examples of PIPE deliverables include:
    • Assess phase deliverable package
    • Basis for Design Process Flow Diagrams and Heat & Material Balance
    • Line lists Necessary equipment process data sheets
    • Preliminary and final safeguarding studies Process Hazard Analysis/LOPA and required resolutions
    • Flare impacts
  • Leads and facilitates resolution of key investigations related to process design.
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of seven years in process engineering discipline or related roles. An understanding of basic refinery process and the elements of process safety is required

Preffered Experience

Refinery or petrochemical industry experience preferred. Some or all of FCC, CCR, Alky, Sulfur unit, Delayed Coking and hydrotreating experience is preferred.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline is required.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in the development of all APC related deliverables; including step testing plans, working with sites to develop APC program, model identification, implementation of APC on live units, monitoring of APC to determine model performance, update P&IDs, develop documentation for APC for each unit, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of P&ID symbology and presentation techniques.
  • Previous experience with various phases of vendor selection and technical negotiation.
  • Technical expert in area of specialty. Advanced ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and processes and apply knowledge analytically.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and commonly used engineering concepts and experience with engineering software.
  • Familiarity with standards and practices of the specific discipline.
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication, advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations.


Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

May be responsible for the supervision of personnel as well as contractors.

Work Conditions

Office and plant based with up to 10% travel required. Subject to varying weather conditions and required to work in all temperatures, including outdoors.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, lifting and/or carrying up to 50 lbs, climbing up to 200 ft, perceiving color differences, required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards not permitted). Job conditions may require twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping.

Salary Range: The salary range includes the minimum, midpoint, and maximum base salary values. A candidate's offer can vary depending on differentiating factors, including but not limited to education, training, or experience.

This position has a salary minimum of $115,300.00 and maximum of $200,700.00.
