Full Job Description
The Process Project Engineering is responsible for the design and implementation of process control systems for John Cockerill Industries North America industrial heat-treating furnace equipment. Specific duties include: • Work as part of the engineering team in execution of industrial projects in the field of industrial furnaces for the steel industry. • Provide technical support and problem resolution as needed. • Review contract specifications, develop project plan from engineering through installation that is in compliance with the required standards, including developing timelines, budget and design reviews. • Creation of process flow and process and instrumentation diagrams. • Sizing of relevant fluid process equipment and creation of technical specification. • Participate in risk analyses (FMEA, HAZOP etc.) • Coordinate with the purchasing department to order materials for all parts and components needed to complete a project. • Validate technical choices. • Request quotes and manage vendors to ensure fair market prices and quality control for all work that is outsourced. • Generate operational philosophy descriptions, perform startup and shutdown analysis and generate performance test protocols. • Facilitate cross-departmental design review meetings to ensure feedback on designs from all departments. • May perform field management assessments, audits and customer service. • Work with the Sales team to identify customer requirements regarding process control equipment, calculations and assist in preparing proposals. REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study • Five (5) years of experience in a field related to the conception of industrial furnaces. • Work experience must have included: • Knowledge and technical orientation of electrical processes in the steel and/or furnace industry • Knowledge of thermal and structural parts of a furnace • Knowledge of the interaction between heat and various metals • Experience with ACAD drawings • Experienced with development and implementation of hardwired and PLC based control systems • Experienced with development of PLC applications for sequential and process control using Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and Siemens S7 PLC equipment • Experienced with pneumatic and hydraulic control design • Experience with the following safety standards: NEC and NFPA 86 • Experience with the following programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, AutoCad, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix 5000 and Siemens Step7. • Required to travel both in the USA and abroad for customer meetings and occasional equipment commissioning or service 25% of the time.
