The Opportunity:Tetra Tech is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our Water team in Irvine, California. This role offers the opportunity to support municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and public-sector clients.
Position Summary:The Water/Wastewater Process Engineer supports the planning, modeling, evaluation, optimization, design, and construction of municipal water and wastewater treatment systems, with emphasis on process performance, water quality, regulatory compliance, and technical decision support. The role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and public-sector clients to deliver complete water treatment solutions accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Essential Job Functions:- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field; master's degree or PhD a plus.
- 1-2 years of relevant professional engineering experience.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil or Environmental Engineering, registered in CA or ability to obtain licensure within one year.
- Strong communication, technical writing, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Project.
Preferred Experience: - Experience with hydraulic modeling software.
- Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience with municipal infrastructure design and permitting.
- Licensure within one year.

Physical Requirements:- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods while performing office or fieldwork.

- Occasional fieldwork may require walking on uneven terrain, climbing stairs or ladders, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to travel locally for site visits, meetings, or field coordination as needed.

Salary: $75,000 to $103,000 dependent on experience.
