Overview

The M&M Process Engineering team is looking for a Process Engineer/Metallurgist to work on a variety of projects, particularly related to extractive metallurgy, from mineral processing and concentration to hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes for metal production. Although the function is essentially technical in nature, it includes other duties such as collaboration with other disciplines and HAZOP facilitation.

The Process Engineer/Metallurgist will report to the Director of Process Engineering. The position is based in Ontario/Quebec and offers a hybrid work schedule.

This opportunity supports the growth of our M&M business across multiple locations, including Toronto (Ontario) and Vancouver (British Columbia).

This role will be based in Toronto, ON.

Your role

  • Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, process descriptions, and design criteria for minerals & metals projects.
  • Perform mass balance calculations, process modelling, and engineering analyses.
  • Support FEL, feasibility, and detailed engineering studies for mineral processing projects.
  • Size and specify process equipment and review vendor technical documentation.
  • Conduct plant assessments, data analysis, and process optimization studies.
  • Participate in HAZOPs, design reviews, and risk assessments to improve safety and operability.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective process solutions.


About you
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, or Mineral Processing Engineering, with a strong foundation in process design, technology evaluation, and mineral processing systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in the minerals and metals industry; experience with an engineering consulting organization is considered an asset.
  • Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, or eligible for professional registration.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop key process engineering deliverables, including design criteria, mass and energy balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, and process control philosophies.
  • Experience supporting engineering studies, process optimization initiatives, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; proficiency in a second language is an asset.

Additional information

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $80,700 - $111,000 annually) (Only Applicable to British Columbia). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
