JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Process Engineer III will plan, direct, coordinate, and perform a wide variety of duties in the pursuit of continuous improvement of new and existing manufacturing processes, plant layouts, building improvements, and expansions. The Process Engineer III works closely with Operations, Tooling, Engineering, Quality, and New Product Development departments in determining, implementing, and optimizing the production of quality parts as per customer requirements and Cambro's established manufacturing standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Analyzes existing processes, procedures, and equipment to identify potential areas for improvement.
  • Develops manufacturing plans for all processes within Cambro to be followed.
  • Establishes and documents all production processes.
  • Drafts and updates SOP's as necessary to support improvements in production processes.
  • Perform process audits and analysis of process data. Assists to ensure standardization data file accuracy.
  • Develop process improvements to optimize efficiency, decrease cycle times, and reduce part weights.
  • Coordinates and performs mold trials and material evaluations. Provides test result data accurately and with recommendations. Completes test request forms and lab request orders as required.
  • Leads implementation of standardized processes to establish/maintain process discipline, and process improvements.
  • Leads continuous improvement projects related to safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Organizes project teams, conducts meetings, and works directly with vendors/suppliers.
  • Specifies machinery, materials, equipment, tools, and safety related items. Completes purchase orders.
  • Provides processing expertise to support Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, and Mold Shop departments.
  • Provides Maintenance department with technical support to identify performance gaps in the repair of molding machines.
  • Oversees start-up of new machinery and equipment from initial installation into full production.
  • Provides technical support for repair of molds. Documents and follows up on mold repair requests.
  • Develops, writes, and documents set-up, start-up, in-process, assembly, maintenance, material handling, packaging, receiving, maintenance, and other procedures and specifications.
  • Develops and performs DOE's for material evaluations and process optimization.
  • Conducts mold design reviews from preliminary to final sign-off and provides tool design recommendations.
  • Provides technical support to troubleshoot and resolve production issues on problematic jobs.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual, and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and the organization.
  • Execute each essential duty satisfactorily in order to perform job successfully.
  • Follows all safety procedures required in work area, wears PPE as needed, attends all safety meetings, and reports safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions.
  • Performs effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receive and give feedback, and treats everyone with respect.
  • Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects.
  • Follow all department quality standards/criteria. Raise concerns and issues to immediate manager.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves as a back-up for Process Engineering Manager or Production Manager if necessary.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to other Process Engineers
  • Provides technical training to manufacturing employees, including supervisors, technicians, machine operators, and assemblers. Trains and monitors systematic molding techniques.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed, remain flexible and open to possible schedule changes in order to meet business needs.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering or equivalent; 10 years in the plastics industry or similar experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in English. Ability to read, interpret and develop documents, instructions, operation manuals, safety rules, etc.
  • Posses the technical knowledge necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job.
  • Strong technical talent in the Manufacturing-Process Development/Process Improvement field.
  • Working knowledge of Rotational molding presses, support equipment, thermoplastics, rotational molding, compression molding, thermoset molding, thermoforming, and web molding.
  • Knowledge of the systematic approach to Rotational molding.
  • Basic computer skills in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio; advanced skills in Excel.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing monitoring and material requirements planning (MRP) systems. Understanding of statistical process control (SPC), statistical quality control (SQC), and design of experiments (DOE).
  • Must be able fully to complete all phases of the Cambro SIM Protocol.
  • Able to use and teach how to use all production machinery and auxiliary equipment to production personnel and validate training.
  • Able to design and conduct both on-the-job training and classroom training.
  • Capable of improving processes using DOE or Windows Study techniques.
  • Able to use all aspects of scientific manufacturing about process improvement and production needs.
  • Capable of critiquing of all aspects of the quoting stage and new tooling review.
  • Able to implement and report all phases of Process Engineering required.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems and manage multiple tasks given in written and oral form.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years directly related work experience
  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Certificates, licenses, or registrations, as applicable in ARM Training Academy Certificates, ISO-9001, Lean Six Sigma, and/or Kaizen as well as completion of Paulson Training Center courses, or equivalent
  • Experience in Ferry machinery
