Position overview

Do you enjoy solving problems, improving manufacturing processes, and seeing the direct impact of your work on plant operations?
As a Process Engineer, you will work closely with Operations and spend much of your time on the manufacturing floor, gaining firsthand exposure to equipment, processes, and production challenges. In this hands-on role, you will identify and implement improvements that enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and capacity while supporting process optimization, new product introductions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement improvements in quality, reduced cost or enhanced operations.
  • Prepare documents required for process safety and equipment operations.
  • Develop an understanding of the control systems used within assigned area.
  • Propose and implement programs in order to complete individual objectives as assigned.
  • Develop and support chemical manufacturing trials and studies to prove process improvements, such as cycle time reductions, yield and quality improvements, new raw material introductions and waste minimization.
  • Prepare, test and analyze results of developmental resins to improve existing processes, recipes, equipment, materials and product line.
  • Manage safety issues related to Product Equipment Modifications and the introduction of new products and technologies.
  • Design, develop and implement process controls and automation projects involving automation systems and PC network technologies.
  • Responsible to any phone or for call-ins as needed to resolve equipment issues or assist with problems during off-hours.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the unit, compliance with health requirements and protection of the environment, including energy conservation.


Required skills and experience

  • 3-7 years of experience in a batch chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Experience with DCS systems or process controls is highly desired.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management tools and techniques is preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in teams comprised of technical, production and maintenance personnel.
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
