Qnity is seeking a Process Development Scientist with a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline, with a strong technical track record, and a passion for leading innovative technical programs in a dynamic and evolving environment. Job Description: As a Process Development Scientist, you will: - Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary research team through all stages of project development, from idea conception to technology transfer and commercialization. - Design, execute, and analyze experiments to investigate and develop new product formulations, and commercial scale processes. - Employ data science techniques, including statistical analysis, machine learning, and modeling, to enhance research outcomes and improve process efficiencies. - Investigate structure-property relationships in polymers to develop innovative materials that meet specific performance criteria. - Collaborate with stakeholders across various disciplines and maintain open communication to address technical challenges effectively. - Author and review technical documentation, including patents, reports, and publications, contributing to Qnity's body of research. - Drive innovation in material processing methods and techniques, employing both experimental and modeling approaches. Required Qualifications: - Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related field, with substantial experience leading research and development projects. - Proven track record of high-impact research, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and contributions to patents. - Demonstrated experience in chemical process development, scale-up, and optimization, including translation from pilot-scale work to commercial implementation. - Hands-on experience establishing and operating pilot facilities and designing experimental programs to support commercial-scale chemical processes. - Strong customer and stakeholder management skills, including experience preparing technical proposals, funding applications, or business cases. - Experience supporting commercialization activities, customer engagement, or technical sales. - Strong expertise in data science techniques, including statistical analysis, modeling, and interpretation of experimental data. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams. - Results-oriented mindset with a focus on advancing technologies toward practical application and commercialization. - Experience mentoring junior researchers or staff. Examples of Preferred Attributes and Experience: - Familiarity with advanced process control technologies, modeling software, and data-driven process optimization. - Experience with particle technology, including industry-relevant characterization, classification, and processing methods. - Knowledge of ISO quality assurance standards and relevant safety procedures. - Experience with polymer processing, polyurethane technologies, or related materials systems. - Experience translating bench-scale formulations into scalable or continuous manufacturing processes. - Pilot-scale scale-up experience, particularly in web handling, film casting, coating, or roll-to-roll manufacturing.
