Job Description

United States Steel Corporation is looking for a Process Coordinator - Maintenance Planning at Keetac. This position reports directly to the Area Manager - Keetac Plants. This person will be responsible for supervising the short- and long-term planning and scheduling activities of the department, as well as the development of weekly maintenance schedules. Responsibilities include supervising a team of planners and schedulers associated with the maintenance department, providing budgeting support, and developing long-term maintenance plans. This person will coordinate activities with Materials Management, Maintenance, Operations, and Electrical departments.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Leading department maintenance planning and scheduling meetings.
  • Coordinating the department planning function, making planning assignments, negotiating priorities, and resolving scheduling conflicts to ensure timely and efficient execution of jobs.
  • Overseeing the development of work plans and Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs) for maintenance jobs with necessary information to allow efficient scheduling and execution of maintenance work.
  • Coordinating and supervising the development and maintenance of department equipment records, ensuring pertinent data from work orders is posted in equipment records, including drawing updates, revised PMs, and corrective work orders.
  • Collaborating with Engineering and Safety on the design and installation of new or modified equipment.
  • Maintaining and updating the equipment tree for new, retired, or modified equipment.
  • Coordinating the activities of departmental maintenance, field maintenance, and contractors engaged in the performance of maintenance-related work.
  • Reviewing and approving weekly, daily, and long-term schedules in coordination with maintenance and production activities.
  • Supervising Planners/Schedulers and Kitter.
  • Coordinating the development of the department's Weekly Maintenance Schedule.
  • Tracking Key Performance Indicators for the department.
  • Reviewing and approving maintenance work requests.
  • Managing work order backlog.
  • Supporting the Maintenance Department with craft supervision, troubleshooting, and critical path management on outages and repair turns to help enable the Planners Planning initiative.
  • Ensuring appropriation requests or requisitions are completed and submitted.
  • Checking and verifying labor and material costs for jobs are accurately reflected on work orders.
  • Reviewing work orders resulting from preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Reviewing and verifying completed work orders for completeness and proper authorization.
  • Auditing and reconciling actual versus planned work.
  • Preparing management reports and providing data to others for reporting as needed.
  • Providing the department's Area Manager with support in the development and maintenance of the budget.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred, or equivalent years of demonstrated experience in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant maintenance management experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.
The base salary of $103,959 to $155,938 is a good faith estimate. Based on candidate skills/experience the final offer may be lower/higher.
