Qualifications

• Active Alaska Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant license or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Board certification from AANPCB, ANCC, or NCCPA required.
• Clinical experience in an inpatient or acute care setting preferred; behavioral health background beneficial.
• New graduates with relevant training and an interest in behavioral health are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical assessments including initial history and physicals within 24 hours of admission.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists to create integrated treatment plans for patients.
• Co-manage patients with complex medical and mental health needs alongside mental health providers.
• Educate patients and families on managing medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle changes.
• Provide medical consults and recommend diagnostic tests or treatments as necessary.
• Deliver emergency care within licensure scope until specialized care is available.
