Full Job Description
The Private Fleet Manager, is responsible for managing the distribution of products and driver performance for Campbell's Snacks NC private fleet. The selection, professional development, and motivation of all Fleet Team Members are key responsibilities. This role is responsible for tracking the private fleet's financial and delivery performance metrics as well as ensuring the fleet's compliance to DOT regulations and internal driver safety protocols. This position is accountable for achieving company objectives in regard to fleet safety, quality, cost controls, budgets, productivity, and customer service. The Private Fleet Manager interacts with Manufacturing plants, Sales, DSD Operations, Supply Planning, Procurement, Finance, Order Management, and other departments to assure compliance with company procedures, excellence in execution and progress towards supply chain best practices. It is expected that global thinking take place assuring the best decisions are made in servicing both the customer and the company. What you will do... • 50% of time - Overall employee management • 50% of time - Operational oversite for Fleet (ex. budget, inventory, safety & food safety compliance, day to day operations) • Manages the daily activities related to transportation and distribution of products delivered by the private fleet • Performs and/or supports DOT and driver safety training to ensure compliance to FMCSRs and company policies • Investigate all accidents and recommend solutions to correct any deficiencies. • Manages and develops the Transportation Lead employees • Works with Human Resources to create programs that drive engagement and a positive team environment. • Implement and monitor associate performance appraisals, recommend promotions, wage increases, and terminations. • Implement and lead safety programs designed to ensure the well-being of all associates. • Lead and motivate team, continuously improve and leverage standard work, prepare and complete action plans, define and meet productivity goals, and service standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends. • Oversees daily management of the drivers in the NC fleet • Represents the Campbell Snack's NC Fleet as part of the Corporate Safety Depot/Driver Safety Team (as needed) • Prepares routes for fleet for all DC, mixing center and DSD orders • Develops backhaul pricing to ensure best cost and maximum utilization of equipment • Partners with the Fleet Manger to ensure equipment meets all safety requirements before being dispatched; and all needed repairs or service is done timely • Participates in budget development, cost tracking and monitoring. Prepares cost analysis and cost performance evaluations; reviews and analyzes variances; prepares and distributes reports. • Ensures established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met • Primary fleet contact to customers of private fleet deliveries; leads the team to investigate and resolve issues. • Partners with warehousing leads to drive consolidation efforts • Leads department meetings and cross-functional performance improvement committees. • Conduct regular staff meetings to assure daily and long term objectives are being met, and keep leaders informed of company changes which directly impact operations. • Partners closely with the Fleet Services dept to ensures compliance with applicable laws and DOT regulations. • Operate in compliance with federal, state, and local statues supporting good corporate citizenship • Reviews driver BASICs Performance. Ensures adequate driver training and corrective action take place. • Prepares reports for management; participates in projects as assigned. • May perform other duties as required. What you bring to the table (must haves)... • HS diploma or equivalent • 5 years' experience in Logistics management It would be great if you have (nice to haves)... • DOT training Compensation and Benefits: The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between $98,300-$135,200 Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
