As a Privacy Consultant you will provide privacy-related guidance to all areas of our business and support the ongoing operations of the Privacy Office. This role will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Legal, Information Technology, Product, Information Security, and Enterprise Risk, to provide guidance and general oversight to corporate programs. The Privacy Consultant will support our organizational compliance with established legislation and the guidance issued by the Federal and Provincial Privacy Commissioners.

How you will create impact:

  • Ensuring the Privacy Office is perceived as a valued partner by collaborating with business areas to deliver solutions that drive value and privacy risk mitigation.
  • Conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) on any new initiatives reported to the Privacy Office.
  • Developing regular communications across the organization to improve awareness of our privacy program and related topics.
  • Building sound understanding of current and future business processes and endeavor to provide optimal support.
  • Supporting the Privacy Office team with the investigation of privacy incidents and responding to client requests.
  • Providing advice and guidance aligned to all policies and standards to ensure consistency in approach.
  • Identifying opportunities to develop innovative approaches that improve efficiency and effectiveness of our privacy program.
  • Encouraging the creation of new approaches to effective privacy controls that allow business areas to achieve both risk mitigation and business results.


To join our team:

  • You have 3-5 years of experience in Privacy ideally within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • You have completed a post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • You have an excellent understanding of privacy regulations, program requirements and controls.
  • This position primarily works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Québec, and requires proficiency in English. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

Expected salary/hourly range $72,847 - $121,411

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
