Do you bring a global mindset, a practical problem-solving approach, and a collaborative spirit to everything you do?

Axon is looking for its second ever dedicated Privacy & AI Counsel to join our Legal team, reporting to our VP of Legal Product & Innovation.

In this role, you'll partner closely with product, AI, and employment teams to embed privacy and ethical AI into the core of Axon's products and operations. From body-worn cameras and SaaS platforms to machine learning models and global privacy frameworks, you'll play a critical role in answering complex questions in highly regulated markets around the world. Your guidance will help shape how Axon responsibly builds the future of public safety and justice technology.

What You'll Do

Location: Boston, MA, NYC, NY, Atlanta, GA, or Sterling, VA required to be in-office 4x week (Tuesday - Friday)

Partner across teams to support privacy and AI compliance in Axon's products, global operations, and culture-through scalable guidance and hands-on execution.

Counsel on ethical and legal considerations of obtaining, handling, and using AI training data and outputs. Identify opportunities for and implement AI-augmented workflows, skills, and agents in the team's work.

Drive implementation of privacy principles across products and internal operations by advising on and owning key workflows: impact assessments, DSARs, DPAs, and third-party/sub-processor reviews.

Work closely with Axon's existing privacy counsel to build, refine, and implement privacy and AI processes.

Exercise sound judgment and strong self-direction within a fast-growing, global business.

Partner closely with relevant stakeholders to provide guidance during and after incident response and remediation.

Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing privacy or data protection law, ideally advising on technology, SaaS businesses, or AI-related products in highly regulated industries.

Expertise advising on and implementing enterprise privacy via cross-border transfer mechanisms, intra-group data transfer agreements, and DPA drafting and review.

Ability to navigate ambiguity, distill complexity, and work collaboratively across teams while always upholding Axon's Win Right value.

Fluency and comfort applying AI tools, prompts, and agents to accelerate and improve operations.

Strong communication skills and a practical, solution-oriented mindset.

Privacy certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or CIPT are a plus.

Other pluses: regional expertise with the EU or experience in the healthcare industry.
