The engineer will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Plant Operations, Quality, Safety, Controls, Maintenance, Construction, suppliers, and program leadership to deliver equipment installation, integration, qualification, production readiness, and PPAP activities in alignment with GM standards and expectations.

What You'll Do
  • Support the installation, integration, commissioning, retooling, and optimization of prismatic machining equipment, tooling, automation, and process technologies.
  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers, contractors, plant personnel, and engineering teams to ensure installation and retooling activities are completed safely, on schedule, and according to approved requirements.
  • Support equipment acceptance, G-Risk and safety reviews, red-tag and yellow-tag activities, green-tag readiness, process qualification, and capability studies prior to production use.
  • Develop, maintain, and track execution deliverables, timing plans, installation status, open issues, risks, and recovery actions for assigned program scope.
  • Support equipment runoff, build events, trial runs, process capability studies, run-at-rate activities, launch readiness reviews, and production ramp-up.

  • Review engineering changes and ensure implementation plans, timing, documentation, and shop-floor updates are completed effectively.
  • Communicate program status, technical concerns, countermeasures, and escalation needs to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Promote standardized work, lessons learned, equipment reuse, and continuous improvement across Toledo prismatic programs.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, industrial equipment, tooling, automation, machining, assembly, and production launch activities.
  • Understanding of quality systems, process validation, PPAP, control plans, PFMEA, standardized work, and structured problem solving.
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices and the ability to identify, communicate, and mitigate safety risks.
  • Strong organizational, communication, technical problem-solving, and project execution skills.
  • Ability to work on the plant floor and support activities across shifts, including occasional off-shift, weekend, or shutdown support as program timing requires.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with prismatic machining, transmission or drive-unit manufacturing, complex mechanical processes, or high-volume automated production systems.
  • Experience supporting GM manufacturing systems, launch deliverables, equipment acceptance, G-Risk, red-tag, yellow-tag, green-tag, or PPAP processes.
