Full Job Description
Principle Scientist - Regulatory Toxicology

As a Principle Scientist-Regulatory Toxicologist within Bayer Crop Science, you provide hazard identification and characterization to support product safety for plant protection products; you plan and coordinate toxicological data generation according to regulatory requirements and international guidance, evaluate and disseminate substance- and product-related hazard, systemic exposure and risk information to enable safety assessments; you work within a global team of regulatory toxicology experts and collaborate with internal and external laboratories, risk-assessment experts and other stakeholders to support new product development and the maintenance of existing registrations; success in this role requires applying human hazard, exposure, and risk assessment principles in a highly regulated environment and contributing to cross-regional regulatory strategies.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop toxicology testing strategies, experimental programs, and positions to support regulatory submissions and data call-ins;
  • Provide subject-matter expertise for hazard identification and characterization and align approaches with functional and organizational objectives;
  • Evaluate, interpret, and integrate toxicology and exposure data into product development, defense strategies, and regulatory responses;
  • Support the integration and appropriate use of alternative testing methods and explore agentic approaches to optimize workflows and processes;
  • Serve as an active member of asset teams, providing technical consultation and strategic direction to internal stakeholders and to regulatory agencies (EPA, PMRA, APVMA);
  • Support Bayer Crop Science and industry initiatives to shape and interpret national and international regulatory policies on human safety;
  • Champion sound science and risk-based decision making in agency engagements and task forces;
  • Operate across the global Bayer Crop Science network to ensure consistent scientific approaches, knowledge sharing, and cross-regional alignment.
  • Work in close integration with Regulatory Toxicology, Dietary and Non-dietary Risk Assessment, Environmental Safety, and Regulatory Affairs teams and others across Regulatory Science and R&D.


WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

  • MS in Toxicology, Environmental Health, Exposure Science, Pharmacology, (Bio-)Chemistry, Biomedical, or a related field
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with a team to accomplish projects that require the cooperation and contribution of several individuals from different groups within the company.
  • Experience in agrochemical regulatory toxicology, knowledgeable of human safety/toxicological data generation and study requirements, management and interpretation of results, knowledgeable in global risk assessment approaches.
  • Demonstrated efficiency in planning, organizing and managing a diverse workload ensuring objectives are met by established deadlines and within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information clearly and accurately to diverse audiences (written and oral).
  • Strong data science skills and data science acumen.
  • Ownership for assigned tasks with the ability to assume technical leadership and think strategically in a variety of situations across human safety disciplines.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Phd in Toxicology, Environmental Health, Exposure Science, Pharmacology, (Bio-)Chemistry, Biomedical, or a related field
  • 5 -8+ years of directly relevant experience;


Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $114,640.00 - $170,000 Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
