Role Description

Form Energy is looking to hire a skilled, entrepreneurial, and collaborative Field Technician to commission and service Form's first commercial-scale battery deployments. You will be part of the project engineering and deployment team and will work closely with engineers to install, commission, test, and troubleshoot electrical, controls, networking, and mechanical systems within our fielded commercial systems. An ideal candidate will have an aptitude for solving real world practical problems while contributing to the development of a new product at the cutting edge of clean technology.

What you'll do:
  • Support installation, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of Form's battery systems
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems to determine root cause and implement mitigations
  • Perform software and firmware upgrades as well as networking system configuration
  • Execute commissioning and test plans to characterize the performance and functionality of battery systems
  • Support emergency response at project sites to minimize plant downtime
  • Lead the execution of performance testing, attain data, and communicate finding and document results to improve product performance
  • Maintain company tools, vehicles, equipment, and instrumentation and a safe work environment at all project sites
  • Up to 90% domestic travel to client or project sites


What you'll bring:
  • 7+ years of advanced technical field experience with high-powered equipment, preferably with utility-scale energy storage systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in complex systems integration, including high-voltage troubleshooting, control circuit diagnostics, and industrial communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, Ethernet) for deep-level system debugging.
  • Advanced capability to interpret and execute complex electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency in operating high-voltage instrumentation (power electronics, meggers, amp clamps) and interfacing with mechanical subsystems (pumps, tanks, piping, torque/termination standards).
  • Uncompromising safety mindset with extensive experience in risk assessment and operating within heavy construction environments.
  • Comfort with frequent and long-term wear of heavy PPE (CAT 2 or CAT 4, steel-toed boots, face shields, chemical suits, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain detailed technical documentation and asset management using modern collaborative platforms (Jira, Confluence, Slack).
  • Flexibility for domestic travel (up to 90%), weekend/holiday work, and on-call availability, with a valid driver's license.
