We’re searching for a Principal UX Designer/Architect at AT&T. In this role, you will shape the future of HR technology by designing intuitive, scalable, and connected experiences across enterprise platforms. This role blends user-centered design, interaction architecture, and front-end technical execution to simplify complex workflows and improve the way employees, managers, HR professionals, and system administrators engage with digital tools. You will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, HR, Research, Data, Content Design, and business stakeholders to define experience strategy, solve cross-platform challenges, and elevate the quality and consistency of UX across the organization.
What You’ll Do
Experience Strategy

- Translate business objectives, user needs, operational constraints, and technical considerations into clear experience strategies.
- Identify opportunities to simplify fragmented workflows across systems, channels, and user groups.
- Influence product roadmaps by framing customer problems, experience principles, and measurable outcomes.
Design & Prototyping
- Create wireframes and interactive prototypes, from concept through high-fidelity coded solutions, using modern tools and frameworks.
- Develop system-aware experience models that support seamless interaction between design and production implementation and define experience architecture that connects front-end interactions with underlying system behavior.
- Lead design for complex, high-impact initiatives from discovery through launch and optimization.
- Create journey maps, service blueprints, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and detailed interaction designs.
- Design experiences for various personas including employees, managers, HR professionals, and system administrators.
- Balance usability, business requirements, data considerations, platform capabilities, and implementation effort.
- Ensure solutions work coherently across desktop, mobile, and integrated enterprise platforms.
User Research & Information Architecture
- Partner with UX Research to identify knowledge gaps, develop research plans, interpret user insights and translate findings into experience strategies, user flows, prototypes, and scalable design solutions.
- Organize product structure and information flow, and determine appropriate layouts, media, and technologies based on requirements. Design experiences that balance user needs, technical feasibility, and business objectives.
- Facilitate discovery sessions, concept reviews, usability studies, and design workshops.
- Use qualitative and quantitative evidence to assess design decisions and improve released experiences.
- Turn findings into actionable product recommendations and experience priorities.
Collaboration & Strategy
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including UI designers, engineers, developers, and product managers, HR, and other leaders to deliver cohesive design solutions and align experience with technical implementation.
- Facilitate alignment across teams with differing goals, processes, and technical constraints.
- Present design rationale and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Anticipate dependencies and connect decisions across multiple products and employee journeys.
- Mentor designers without requiring direct people-management responsibility.
Usability, Accessibility and Documentation:
- Ensure designs meet usability and accessibility standards. Create and maintain accurate design documentation, and validate visual quality, interaction behavior, system response, and user flows under real-world conditions.
- Promote consistent use of design systems, interaction standards, and reusable patterns.
- Identify gaps in shared components and partner with design-system teams to address them.
- Continuous Improvement and Trend Awareness: Stay current on design trends, front-end technologies, and AI advancements. Apply best practices and emerging tools to improve design processes, outcomes, and future experience delivery.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired.
