The Integrated Platforms (IP) team is hiring a Principal Systems Engineer to support programs for our US military and various international customers, keeping the world safe from foreign threats. IP supports multiple Collins contracts and is seeking to fill roles across several open contracts – our goal is to align each new hire with a position that best suits their skills and allows for career growth. As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will guide system development and integration, supporting test development, and working closely with our customers and suppliers to ensure we deliver world class solutions.
This position requires the ability to obtain: US Government Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance after employment.
Onsite: This is an onsite role supporting our Largo, FL location.

What YOU will do:
Support the development of full lifecycle solutions from CONOPS to Validation while collaborating with the customer, subcontractors, and executive leadership
Play a key role in the Integration, Dry Run, and Formal Qualification Testing of the products you work on
Identify and document test issues to support root cause analysis
Influence decision-makers with recommended courses of action across complex problems
Support business capture through identifying technological gaps and opportunities
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
The ability to obtain a US Government Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary teams of design professionals including Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Test, Logistics and other System Engineers
Practical experience in at least two of the following areas:
Systems Engineering
Test Engineering
Software Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Experience across the Systems Engineering V with an emphasis on integration and test
Experience in documenting failures and analyzing them to identify potential resolutions
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience with voice communication systems, including VoIP (Voice over IP) protocols like SIP, RTP and SRTP
Familiarity with multicast networking (e.g., IGMP, PIM) for efficient data transmission in communication systems
Strong understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, UDP, and network troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark).
Knowledge of military specifications (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461) for designing rugged and reliable systems
Experience leading discussions with customers and vendors/subcontractors
Experience writing and reviewing BOEs
A current active Secret Clearance

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
