The Opportunity:
CACI's Mastodon Design is hiring a Principal Systems Architect to help lead our Electronic Warfare systems engineering practice in Rochester, NY. This is a senior technical leadership role: you'll build and mentor a growing systems engineering team, shape how systems engineering principles get applied across our product development lifecycle, and partner across engineering, business development, and program management to keep our EW/SIGINT programs moving. You'll also stay close to the technical work — from RF/EW system architecture to the accessories and third-party components that round out our fielded solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, grow, and mentor the systems engineering team — closing skill gaps and supporting hiring, development, and coaching
  • Shape systems engineering practices across product development — requirements, trade studies, interfaces, and testing — and help make them repeatable across programs
  • Shape EW system architecture and technology roadmaps at the enterprise level, guided by mission and threat requirements
  • Design system architecture, interfaces, and spectrum/waveform coverage for EW payloads, jammers, and RF sensing subsystems, including CONEMP/CONOPS input
  • Partner with the CTO and engineering leadership to help drive strategic technical direction
  • Partner across Business Development, Product/Program Management, and customers — building alignment and presenting architecture trade-offs to keep programs moving
  • Support proposals with technical write-ups and basis of estimates (BoEs)
  • Evaluate and manage third-party OEM accessories, partnering with Product Line Management to keep the catalog current

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience, with meaningful background in RF/EW systems (EA, ES, EP, or spectrum warfare), including experience mentoring or growing an engineering team
  • Working knowledge of the threat/EW environment (e.g., radar/comms threat libraries, spectrum deconfliction) is a plus
  • Experience establishing or maturing systems engineering practices within a product development organization
  • Comfortable working across engineering, business development, product, and program management to move things forward
  • Strong communication skills, with experience briefing leadership and working through differing stakeholder priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Visio
  • There is no clearance requirement to begin employment. As a condition of continued employment, you will be required to obtain a Secret clearance.

Desired:

  • Hands-on experience with antenna design, RF front-end architecture, or antenna pattern and placement trade-offs
  • Experience with RF propagation, link budgets, or antenna integration on vehicle, airborne, or man-portable platforms
  • Exposure to SIGINT collection systems, spectrum sensing hardware, or direction-finding techniques
