Full Job Description
IMCO is looking for a Principal to join the Sustainable Investing team!

Reporting to the Managing Director, Sustainable Investing, you will deliver key facets of our sustainability and investment strategy, including leading research & analysis into sustainability-related investment themes; shaping IMCO's approach and worldview on key sustainability topics; as well as being collaborating across all IMCO asset classes, taking on topics most critical to delivering investment excellence.

The ideal candidate has a track record of researching, translating, and implementing insights and initiatives, working in complex stakeholder environments, leading and facilitating discussions, as well as building strong relationships at multiple levels. This must be complemented by an ability to convey these concepts in a compelling manner to investment professionals and being seen as a thought leader on relevant topics.

As a member of our team, you will deliver impact on multiple elements of our sustainability strategy by:

Insights:
  • Monitoring global SI industry developments, regulatory sustainability developments, ESG risks and related financial and pension industry trends to inform IMCO's sustainability strategy, worldview, and priorities;
  • Leading research and insights on sustainability, helping shape IMCO-wide view on opportunities and innovative solutions across clean energy transition, and other and other relevant SI topics;
  • Conducting research and providing sustainability focused insights to support investment analysis, stewardship activities, and portfolio analytics;
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders by convening investment teams, and other relevant departments, to foster collaboration and alignment on sustainability worldview.


Capital Deployment:
  • Supporting complex ESG analysis/due diligence across asset classes, including direct investment deals and external manager selection, with thorough understanding of what constitutes material ESG issues and how they may impact investment outcomes;
  • Working in partnership with investment teams on providing advice, research and critical thinking in ESG integration activities for active deals and asset management;
  • Stay up to date on methodologies and tools for ESG and climate change risk assessment by continuously learning and being an expert resource in this space.


Value Creation:
  • Build sectoral/thematic/ESG topic expertise to drive value creation and engagement initiatives;
  • Strengthen and simplify existing processes, with a focus on efficiency and bringing order to complex processes.


What Do You Need To Succeed?
  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant professional experience in consulting, investing, investment banking, sustainability, or related fields.
  • University degree in Business, Finance, Law, Economics, Engineering, Climate Science, Environmental Science, or other relevant disciplines; graduate-level degree (e.g., MBA) or professional designation (e.g., CFA) is an asset
  • Climate science background or relevant experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of sustainable investing principles and tools across the investment lifecycle and familiarity with sustainability taxonomies and policies.
  • Structured problem solving approach.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into actionable insights, think independently, and design initiatives on key sustainability topics.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong project management skills, including scoping, structuring, and delivering complex projects.
  • Familiarity with emerging trends, technologies, and policy developments in energy transition and climate change.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking with sound business judgment.
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills, with the ability to develop high-quality content for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a high-performance environment.
