Full Job Description
Job Description

Oracle is seeking a Factory Quality Engineer to join our Quality organization and help ensure the quality, reliability, and manufacturing readiness of complex hardware products. This role is responsible for incoming quality control (IQC), outgoing quality control (OQC), outgoing box audit (OBA), factory quality, field quality, reliability, and operational health metrics.

You will work directly with Oracle's manufacturing partners and cross-functional engineering teams to identify factory quality risks, ensure manufacturing issues are understood and contained, drive root cause and corrective actions to closure, and strengthen manufacturing controls.

You will use manufacturing yield data, test coverage, OBA findings, root cause and corrective action (RCCA) methodologies, and risk assessment to protect manufacturing delivery, outgoing quality, and field reliability. This role requires strong technical judgment, disciplined problem solving, and the ability to translate factory quality data into clear actions and risk-based recommendations that support successful product ramps and OK-to-Ramp and OK-to-Ship decisions.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities
  • Monitor factory quality performance across assigned products and manufacturing sites, including IQC, OQC, OBA, L10/L11 yield, first-pass yield (FPY), accumulated-pass yield (APY), retest rates, failure pareto, and test stability.
  • Analyze factory quality signals to identify emerging risks, containment gaps, unresolved manufacturing issues, and potential customer escapes before products ramp or ship.
  • Lead factory issue containment, failure-data reviews, RCCA follow-up, and corrective-action validation in partnership with manufacturing partners, suppliers, and Oracle engineering teams.
  • Ensure process escapes, rework risks, test instability, and recurring failure modes are documented, assigned to clear owners, and tracked through verified closure.
  • Review factory test coverage to ensure known failure modes can be effectively detected before shipment.
  • Validate the effectiveness of OBA controls in identifying workmanship, configuration, labeling, packaging, cosmetic, documentation, and functional escapes.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Test teams to address yield gaps, reduce debug and retest churn, improve test stability, and prevent recurring production-line failures.
  • Support NCAT, SSP, program-readiness reviews, and executive quality updates with clear data, concise risk assessments, and recommended actions.
  • Work frequently on-site with manufacturing partners to verify that process controls, inspection criteria, rework instructions, escalation paths, and quality gates are established and effective.
  • Build and maintain factory quality risk registers for key programs, including containment status, RCCA ownership, target closure dates, and residual risk.
  • Support OK-to-Ramp and OK-to-Ship decisions by ensuring remaining quality risks are clearly documented, current, and actionable.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Experience in manufacturing quality, process quality, supplier quality, product quality, hardware quality, reliability engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong working knowledge of IQC, OQC, OBA, factory test flows, yield metrics, pareto analysis, retest rates, containment, and corrective-action processes.
  • Experience applying structured RCCA methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, CAPA, or other disciplined problem-solving approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze failure data, distinguish known issues from emerging risks, and drive fact-based problem resolution with manufacturing partners, suppliers, and internal engineering teams.
  • Ability to exercise sound technical and quality judgment when working with incomplete data, particularly during production ramps or under shipment pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly summarize technical issues, quality risks, business impact, and required actions for cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with external manufacturers, suppliers, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, field teams, repair operations, or similar organizations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with server, rack-level, GPU, networking, storage, power, thermal, or other data center infrastructure products, particularly advanced AI infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI), production ramps, OK-to-Ramp, OK-to-Ship, stop-ship, containment, or customer-impacting quality reviews.
  • Familiarity with test coverage validation, FMEA, control plans, statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), or reliability qualification.
  • Experience working with high-volume manufacturing partners, original design manufacturers (ODMs), contract manufacturers (CMs), electronics manufacturers (EMs), repair operations, or supplier factory audits.
  • Six Sigma, Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Lean, or equivalent quality or reliability training.
