Department Overview

The hardworking coworkers of Electric Engineering ensure all manners of electric engineering-including electric standards and process safety, electric design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning-are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects. Electric Engineering is comprised of approximately 2,000 coworkers.

Position Summary

The Electric Standards & Work Methods Specialist provides expertise for leadership and support of projects to ensure improved safety, reliability and efficiency of field maintenance and construction processes and programs and provide technical support for maintenance and construction departments as a liaison and advocate. Incumbents provide communication and feedback on construction standards and equipment issues, work to integrate safety into the development of construction standards, equipment designs and associated work tasks, and work to ensure safe, reliable and affordable service.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $136,000

Bay Area Mid:$184,000

Bay Area Maximum: $232,000

California Minimum:$129,000

California Mid:$175,000

California Maximum:$220,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as a subject matter expert and thought leader, and applies extensive unique expertise.
  • Leads the team's day-to-day operations in support of the team and the supervisor.
  • Develops and implements effective business strategies in support of the company and department.
  • Assists others in defining curriculum learning objectives and course outline, designing curriculum, and developing/building training content and materials.
  • Develops effective metrics to track, report on and improve overall department performance.
  • Assists in developing content to support the course objectives and assessment using instructional design principles, best practices, and incorporating multimedia to design best-in-class course materials.
  • Sets department goals in support of established objectives.
  • Collaborates with others to identify, analyze and improve existing business processes within a department to meet new goals and objectives.
  • Leads complex or major projects with high corporate or functional priority.
  • Acts as a witness assistant by helping with the development of testimony, work papers and discovery responses, settlement documents and communications materials.


Qualifications

Minimum:
  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • 12 years in the electric utility industry
  • 10 years experience as a Journeyman, Estimator/ADE or in an engineering discipline
  • Certification in one or more of the following:
    • Journeyman Lineman,or
    • Journeyman Cable Splicer, or
    • Journeyman Electrician, or
    • Journeyman Electrical Technician, or
    • Journeyman System Operator, or
    • Estimator/Associate Distribution Engineer (ADE) or,
    • Accreditation in an engineering discipline.


Desired:
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 20 years
  • Experience in utility construction
  • Record of Barehand training completion
