We are looking for you to join our team as a Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) Systems Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA. As a Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You’ll get to Do:

In this role, you will work with Chief Mission Architect and peer MS&A Systems Engineers in collaborative small team environments to conduct research and analysis, develop models and simulations, and develop and implement algorithms.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and continuously update complex Simulink models for inertial navigation systems (INS) to reflect the latest hardware, software, and algorithm changes, ensuring model fidelity and traceability.

  • Conduct detailed analysis of system performance using simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink) to identify potential improvements and verify that all system requirements are met.

  • Develop and implement INS algorithms and integrate them into the Simulink environment, maintaining clear interfaces and versioncontrolled libraries.

  • Perform regression testing of updated Simulink models, validate results against flighttest data, and generate quantitative reports on model accuracy and stability.

  • Analyze simulation data to validate models and algorithms, providing actionable insights into system behavior under a wide range of operating conditions.

  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (software, hardware, systems engineering) to embed Simulink models within larger system architectures and support hardwareintheloop (HIL) and softwareintheloop (SIL) testing.

  • Prepare technical documentation, model change logs, and validation reports to communicate findings, methodologies, and recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Stay current with advancements in modeling and simulation technologies (e.g., Simulink202x, ModelBased Design, AUTOSAR) and apply best practices to improve existing INS models.

  • Work closely with configurationmanagement and versioncontrol tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab) to ensure Simulink model revisions are properly tracked, reviewed, and released.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Systems Engineer:

  • BS degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience in Systems Engineering, OR a MS degree and 3 years OR a Ph.D. and 1 year

  • Proven experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis, preferably in the aerospace or defense industry.

  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or similar software. Experience with C/C++ or Python for algorithm development is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to cross-functional projects.

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in work, with a focus on quality and reliability.

  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.

  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, California.

  • BS degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience in Systems Engineering, OR a MS degree and 6 years OR a Ph.D. and 4 years

  • Proven experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis, preferably in the aerospace or defense industry.

  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or similar software. Experience with C/C++ or Python for algorithm development is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to cross-functional projects.

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in work, with a focus on quality and reliability.

  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.

  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, California.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in inertial navigation systems

  • Familiarity with AGILE, MBSE, and/or system architecture.

  • Experience with version control tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, Gitlab, etc.)

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
