About the position:

Skimmer is looking for a player/coach technical leader to guide our Embedded Software Development team. You'll lead a small team while contributing code that expands our platform through partner integrations, including embedded financial products and other third-party offerings that make Skimmer more valuable for customers.

This team owns the partner integration and enablement processes for the Skimmer platform and mobile app. Skimmer has a team that owns the customer facing API and middleware tools. This team specifically owns partner integrations that are deeply integrated into Skimmer. Many of these partners will be tightly integrated into the interface for financial services we resell.

You'll report to the VP of Engineering and work closely with Product, Finance, Customer Success, and Support.

What you'll do:
  • Lead and mentor a small team of development engineers while contributing technically as a player/coach.
  • Serve as the internal technical expert on Skimmer's partner integration architecture, including embedded financial products and third-party offerings.
  • Drive evaluation, integration, and ongoing support for embedded products to ensure reliability, data accuracy, and a seamless customer experience.
  • Build and maintain secure APIs, webhooks, middleware, and integration patterns for partner functionality.
  • Partner on vendor selection and technical due diligence for prospective integration partners.
  • Use AI tools and best practices to improve team productivity and code quality.
  • Own security, compliance, and data privacy considerations across partner integrations.

First 90 days
  • Lead the build-out of the first embedded financial product integration with Product and the selected partner.
  • Define a reusable integration framework for auth, webhooks, retries, monitoring, and data sync.
  • Review and strengthen the security, compliance, and data-sharing posture for third-party integrations.


What you bring:
  • Tenured experience leading a development team in a technical leadership or player/coach role at a SaaS startup.
  • Strong hands-on experience building API-based, real-time integrations for SaaS products.
  • Deep knowledge of REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, retries, idempotency, monitoring, and failure handling.
  • Experience with embedded financial products or similar third-party offerings is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency using AI tools, preferably Claude, to improve development productivity.
  • Strong development experience in C# and Microsoft SQL.
  • Strong business judgment and understanding of privacy, compliance, and partner risk.
  • High EQ and a track record of leading cross-functional work successfully.
