As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Getting in early on an exceptionally rare and impactful project
- Owning the architecture and technical direction of a platform built to scale
- Working day-to-day in a close-knit team but part of a wider group to solve our most complex distributed systems challenges
- Weighing the longer-term implications of design decisions, not just the problem in front of you
- Helping the team grow through mentoring, code review, and raising our engineering standards; defining the next generation of cloud tooling
- Working to define the next generation of cloud tooling
Do what you loveTo be successful in this role you will:
- Bring at least 10 years of professional software engineering experience; relevant experience and education in Computer Science or a related field.
- Have deep, proven professional experience in Go (experience with C++ is a welcome bonus, but not required).
- Have solid experience building high-performance, reliable systems (profiling, concurrency, memory/latency optimization and performance debugging).
- Show a proven track record of designing and improving complex distributed systems, including the architecture that runs in production on Kubernetes.
- Have familiarity with containers, Kubernetes, serverless computing, and Linux APIs.
- Take a higher-level view when making technical decisions, weighing many inputs and the longer-term implications of each choice.
- Work well with others: collaborative, open-minded, proving a point on its merits. open to solutions, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and curiosity
- Be comfortable working in an Agile development environment (iterative delivery, reviews, planning, and continuous improvement).
CompensationAkamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from 140,400 - 252,800 CAD/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
