Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and/or maintenance activities. Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results. Establish priorities which support construction/operation's needs. Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments. Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies. Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities. Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities. Review and approve subcontractors quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures. Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards. Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are being performed. Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks. Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.

Work Hours: A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in technical discipline and at least 8 - 10 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas. An associate's degree and 10 - 12 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent. A high school diploma and 12 - 16 years of practical experience would also be considered equivalent. Well-developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents are required. Certification in areas of responsibility are required with ongoing programmatic training per the requirements of the project quality program.

Additional Duties
  • Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to electrical and I&C, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards.
  • Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans.
  • Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Non- Conformance reports as required.
  • Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment

Additional Experience Qualifications
  • Practical field experience in electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) quality control within the last 16 months. (Preferred)
  • Prior work experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program. (Required)
  • Prior DOE work experience. (Required)
  • Well-developed organizational skills with good communication skills. (Required)

Work Environment / Physical Demands:
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Light to moderate lifting may be required for packages and other items, ability to walk short distances, may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
