Job Description
Hitachi Rail STS Canada is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated   Principal Project Planner who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of engineering tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in downtown Toronto, Canada.
Accountabilities
  • Ensure the development of Project Master Schedule and project detailed scheduled aligned with the milestones fixed by the customer and / or management expectations on deliveries.
  • Support project team in the analysis of the scope of the work, definition of the work breakdown structure, implementing and optimizing project execution plans.
  • Work with company leaders and third parties to produce detailed plans for the Project activities and all planned deliverables. Monitor work in progress to ensure that work is executed in compliance with the requirements of the contract and schedule
  • Plan the construction and commissioning work on day-by-day basis
  • Producing project control reports including variation reports regarding time and budget as required by the Project Manager
  • Support Project Controlling for the economical monitoring of the project.
  • Ensure the implementation of integrated Planning processes and standards.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of project planner budget.
  • Ensure the project EV analysis, Risk Analysis and reporting.
  • Guarantee the reliability and on time availability of project reporting.
  • As the Lead Planner attend meetings with the customer and subcontractors regarding scheduling and project issues, ensuring that company interests are fully represented.
  • Participate in the Change Order Management process
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 10 - 15 years of relevant project planning experience with at least 3-5 yrs exp with large infrastructure construction projects, preferably rail transit projects.
  • Strong experience with using Primavera P6.
  • Strong ability to understand and analyze dependency logic and project critical path.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills in liaising with project stakeholders in the development of project schedules, while identifying milestones and critical paths.
  • Excellent understanding of project management techniques, in addition to effective planning and scheduling skills.
  • Highly motivated and adaptable to a time-sensitive environment in order to respond quickly and effectively to unanticipated high workloads, events and emergencies
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and effectively handle pressures associated with this role
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, Project constituents, third parties and general public
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience with schedule analysis tools (Ex. TILOS, Acumen, FUSE, Other)
  • Experience in MS suite including Power BI.
  •  2 years’ experience in Railway Systems/ Signaling projects.
Education
  • 4 years degree in Business or Engineering.
  • Ontario P.Eng highly desirable.

Salary Range:

$ 112,026 (CAD) to $168,040 (CAD)

The current applicable Base Salary Pay Range for this role is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
