Position OverviewWe are seeking a Principal Project Controls Specialist - Scheduler to provide lead-level scheduling and project controls support for a major power generation construction project. This position will serve as a Primavera P6 Subject Matter Expert responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules while supporting baseline management, critical path analysis, schedule-cost integration, change management, and project forecasting.
The ideal candidate will have extensive Project Controls experience with expert-level Primavera P6 capabilities and direct experience supporting complex EPC power generation construction projects. This is ultimately a field-based position requiring mobilization to the project site in Anderson, SC.
Key ResponsibilitiesScheduling & Project Controls
- Lead development and maintenance of integrated project schedules using Primavera P6
- Establish, maintain, and analyze project schedule baselines
- Perform critical path, schedule variance, adherence, and trend analysis
- Incorporate engineering, procurement, construction, vendor, and implementation activities into project schedules
- Develop recovery plans and schedule mitigation strategies when required
- Track project resources and quantities using Primavera and other scheduling tools
- Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures aligned with project scope
Field Scheduling & Project Integration
- Monitor field progress through site observations, schedule updates, and field walkdowns
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors to gather and verify schedule updates
- Integrate vendor schedules and site activities into the overall project schedule
- Perform schedule-cost integration analysis to support forecasting and project decision-making
- Review project changes and vendor change orders for schedule and time impacts
- Support project funding requests with detailed schedule analysis
- Identify schedule risks, constraints, and potential impacts to project execution
Analysis & Reporting
- Perform advanced schedule analysis using Deltek Acumen Fuse
- Support schedule risk analysis, including Monte Carlo simulations
- Develop project controls reports, schedule analytics, and project-specific documentation
- Communicate schedule performance, trends, risks, and forecasts to project leadership
- Lead project controls reviews and status presentations
- Track and report project performance metrics
Leadership & Technical Support
- Serve as the Primavera P6 Subject Matter Expert for the project
- Lead implementation of scheduling methodologies, standards, and best practices
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Project Controls team members
- Support development of junior Project Controls professionals
- Coordinate benchmarking and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Project Directors, contractors, vendors, and field teams
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience, OR High School Diploma/GED with 14+ years of relevant experience
- Lead-level Project Controls experience on complex EPC projects
- Direct experience supporting power generation construction, including Combined Cycle, Simple Cycle, Solar, and/or Battery projects
- Expert-level Primavera P6 scheduling experience
- Advanced understanding of critical path methodology and integrated scheduling
- Experience developing, baselining, maintaining, and analyzing large-scale construction schedules
- Field experience observing construction progress and performing schedule updates and walkdowns
- Experience with Deltek Acumen Fuse or similar schedule analysis software
- Experience coordinating directly with contractors and vendors
- Ability and willingness to mobilize to the field project site in Anderson, SC
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications- Experience evaluating vendor change orders and performing time impact analysis
- Risk management and Monte Carlo analysis experience
- Experience with MS Project, Business Objects, Passport, Powerplant, Emax, PeopleSoft, or similar systems
- Master's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline
- PMI-SP, AACE-PSP, PMP, AACE-EVP, AACE-CCC, CAPM, or similar professional certification
- Employee development and mentoring experience
- Experience supporting multiple complex projects or project teams
Candidate Must-Haves- 10+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 14+ years without a degree
