Full Job Description
What will you do?

We're hiring a Principal Program Manager for our Integrations team in driving cross-organizational initiatives, influencing VP-level technology roadmaps, and unlocking millions in revenue through transformational improvements to our API ecosystem and developer experience.

You'll operate with complete autonomy to identify and remediate endemic problems in our processes, drive architectural decisions across Product, Commercial, Engineering, and Operations organizations, and establish the strategic mechanisms that enable Amazon Shipping to scale developer experience at the pace our business demands.

Working at the unique intersection where program leadership directly impacts revenue, you'll define multi-year technical and business roadmaps, influence resource allocation across VP organizations, and solve significantly complex problems where business and architectural strategies are undefined.

You'll collaborate closely with:

* Product Management teams defining API strategy and roadmaps

* Commercial teams driving enterprise customer onboarding

* Engineering organizations building integration platforms

* Operations teams supporting global shipping networks

* Principal Engineers and Architects on technical decisions

* VP-level leadership across multiple organizations

Who are you?

You're a seasoned program management leader with deep technical fluency in API ecosystems and integration patterns, combined with exceptional strategic judgment and proven ability to build consensus across diverse executive stakeholders. You have a track record of managing programs that span multiple VP organizations, operating independently in highly ambiguous environments where both the problem and solution are undefined.

Key attributes:

* Strategic thinker who connects technical improvements to business outcomes

* Technical depth in API development, system integration, and distributed architectures

* Executive presence with ability to influence VP-level audiences

* Data-driven decision maker who defines meaningful success metrics

* Strong owner who takes accountability for business impact beyond project delivery

* Exceptional communicator who translates complex technical concepts clearly

* Proven ability to identify and remediate endemic problems at scale

You thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where technical decisions directly impact millions in revenue. You're passionate about solving endemic problems that affect global shipping operations while creating the integration playbook that scales Amazon Shipping worldwide.

Key job responsibilities

Strategic Program Leadership & Roadmap Ownership

- Own the end-to-end strategy and execution for Amazon Shipping's API ecosystem and enterprise integration platform, working across Product, Commercial, Engineering, and Operations VP organizations to drive architectural decisions and organizational alignment

- Define multi-year technical and business roadmaps for developer experience improvements that directly impact shipper onboarding velocity, integration success rates, and API adoption growth

- Influence resource allocation and technology investments across multiple organizations to ensure alignment with integration strategy

- Identify and remediate endemic problems that create bottlenecks, limit scalability, or cause recurring developer friction, decomposing significantly complex challenges into straightforward solutions

Cross-Organizational Influence & Executive Engagement

- Build consensus across VP organizations through effective narratives and presentations, representing complex technical decisions and trade-offs clearly

- Manage executive-level escalations with excellent judgment, balancing technical constraints with business priorities

- Drive alignment between integration goals and organizational objectives across global stakeholders

- Partner with Principal Engineers and SDMs to ensure architectural decisions scale to match business growth projections

Technical Excellence & Architecture

- Drive large-scale programs that solve complex problems in authentication, rate limiting, error handling, monitoring, and developer tooling

- Evaluate system designs for scalability, performance, security, and operational excellence

- Lead architectural simplification initiatives that enable team independence and reduce technical debt

- Manage large-scale engineering efforts that remediate endemic technical problems with organization-wide impact

Metrics, Visibility & Business Impact

- Establish and own success metrics that connect technical improvements to business outcomes (integration time reduction, API adoption rates, developer satisfaction, revenue impact)

- Create mechanisms for continuous visibility and proactive risk identification across the integration platform

- Own quarterly business reviews that translate technical metrics into business impact for executive audiences

- Quantify business impact of integration improvements and communicate ROI to leadership

Team Development & Community Building

- Amplify impact by creating and optimizing critical mechanisms that enable teams to deliver independently

- Actively develop the program management community through mentoring, promotion assessments, and knowledge sharing

- Raise the bar for program management excellence across Amazon Shipping

- Streamline processes and drive adoption of best practices across multiple organizations

A day in the life

Your mornings start with strategic analysis-spotting patterns across the integration platform and quantifying business impact. You review API adoption metrics, integration success rates, and developer feedback to identify emerging trends and opportunities.

Mid-morning involves writing VP-level documents which drive technology roadmaps and priorities. You craft narratives that connect technical improvements to business outcomes, preparing for upcoming reviews and decision-making forums.

Afternoons focus on driving initiatives: partnering with Principal Solution Architects and SDMs on architecture decisions, influencing cross-org priorities, and preparing narratives for executives. You facilitate alignment meetings, resolve blockers, and ensure programs stay on track.

Late afternoons are spent managing escalations and engaging with enterprise partners. You work directly with key customers experiencing integration challenges, translating their feedback into actionable improvements.

Throughout the day, you shift between diving deep on technical problems and influencing stakeholders on business impacts. You balance strategic thinking with tactical execution, ensuring both immediate wins and long-term platform evolution.

You'll collaborate with engineering leaders building our adaptive technology, operations teams executing our delivery promise, commercial stakeholders focused on scaling our customer base, and product managers defining the future of our API ecosystem. This role demands someone who can toggle between strategic vision and tactical execution, turning integration challenges into opportunities for transformation.
