Job Description: Principal Product Manager

Human Risk Management

Mimecast protects over 42,000 organizations from sophisticated cyber threats. We're looking for a Principal Product Manager to join our Human Risk Management team, focused on driving product growth, customer adoption, and retention across our Security Behavior Management (SBM) platform and the Human Risk Command Center (HRCC).

This is a hands-on IC role that sits at the intersection of product management and growth strategy. You'll own the SBM growth portfolio, including upsell and cross-sell motions, channel enablement, and feature adoption, while also owning the customer retention and adoption lifecycle across both SBM and HRCC. You won't be building core platform features. You'll be making sure customers successfully adopt what's been built and expand into more.

What you'll be responsible for

SBM Growth & Expansion
  • Own the SBM upsell and cross-sell motion into the existing Mimecast customer base, including positioning, sales enablement, and adoption tracking
  • Support channel go-to-market efforts for SBM, ensuring product positioning and enablement materials are aligned for partner-led sales
  • Own SBM feature adoption, driving usage of key capabilities across the eligible customer base
  • Define cross-sell signals and product-qualified lead criteria that feed into the sales pipeline
  • Partner with product marketing and sales engineering on competitive enablement, go-to-market readiness, and launch coordination for SBM releases

Cross-Product Customer Retention
  • Build and maintain a structured process for tracking at-risk accounts across SBM and HRCC, partnering with CS and Support to drive early intervention
  • Identify systemic patterns in customer escalations and churn drivers, and translate them into prioritized product investments and roadmap recommendations
  • Own the escalation triage process from a PM perspective, ensuring high-priority customer issues are routed to the right PM and resolution plans are communicated

HRCC Adoption & Onboarding
  • Own the HRCC post-sale adoption lifecycle, focused on improving customer activation, engagement, and time-to-value
  • Drive integration adoption programs in partnership with the Integrations PM and customer success
  • Identify and resolve onboarding friction points that prevent customers from realizing HRCC value
  • Track adoption metrics for new HRCC capabilities and feed findings back into product prioritization

Analytics & Reporting
  • Define and maintain the adoption and retention metrics framework across SBM and HRCC
  • Produce regular adoption and retention reporting for PM leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Partner with data and engineering teams to instrument product usage tracking where gaps exist

What you'll bring

Product Management Foundation
  • 8+ years of product management experience, with 3+ years in B2B SaaS or enterprise software
  • Proven track record owning features or product areas end-to-end - from discovery and requirements through delivery, launch, and adoption
  • Strong analytical instincts - you use data to define problems, measure outcomes, and prioritize ruthlessly
  • Experience driving cross-functional programs involving engineering, CS, and go-to-market teams
  • Experience managing customer-facing product conversations and executive-level escalations, with the ability to balance customer needs against roadmap constraints

Domain & Technical Fluency
  • Familiarity with risk management concepts. Direct cybersecurity experience is a plus
  • Ability to work closely with engineering on technical decisions - you don't need to write code, but you can hold your own in architecture and data model discussions
  • Comfort working with product analytics tools (Pendo, Amplitude, or equivalent) to track adoption and inform prioritization
  • Proficient in leveraging generative AI tooling (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) to accelerate analysis, documentation, and prototyping workflows

Collaboration & Execution
  • Strong communicator - written and verbal - with the ability to distill complex problems into clear narratives for engineering, leadership, and customers
  • Detail-oriented with strong operational instincts - you can run a structured program, maintain accountability across teams, and keep things moving without being told
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity - you can structure problems, validate hypotheses, and move quickly with incomplete information
  • Experience mentoring other PMs or leading through influence without direct authority

Why Mimecast

We're building the leading human risk management platform at a time when the category is being defined. Human error remains the #1 cause of security incidents, and the tools organizations use to understand and reduce that risk are evolving fast. As a Principal PM, you'll have the autonomy to shape key parts of our HRCC strategy, direct access to engineering and customers, and the backing of leadership to make meaningful product bets.

You'll be joining a globally distributed product team working alongside talented PMs across Security Behavior Management, threat protection, and platform capabilities. We value data-driven decision making, direct communication, and empowering people to own outcomes.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Collaborative, distributed team environment where ownership and initiative are valued
  • Direct line of sight between your work and business outcomes (adoption, retention, revenue expansion)
