Job Summary

The Principal Oracle DBA is responsible for the design, administration, performance tuning, and optimization of enterprise Oracle database environments across on-premises and AWS cloud platforms. This role partners with architecture, application development, and product teams to implement database best practices, support cloud migration initiatives, enhance automation, and ensure the availability, scalability, security, and performance of mission-critical database systems.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, administer, and optimize Oracle database environments supporting enterprise applications.
• Collaborate with application development and performance engineering teams throughout the design, development, and deployment lifecycle.
• Perform Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, RAC, and GoldenGate performance tuning and optimization.
• Design and review database schemas, data models, and database architecture.
• Support Oracle RAC environments, database administration, and production operations.
• Analyze database performance and implement tuning strategies for SQL and database instances.
• Develop automation, self-service capabilities, and process improvements to enhance database operations.
• Support AWS cloud database environments, including RDS, EC2, EKS, and related infrastructure.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews.
• Provide Level 3 production support, including participation in an on-call rotation.
• Work with systems analysts to define technical and database requirements.
• Support multiple projects and product teams simultaneously.
• Troubleshoot complex database issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Ensure database environments align with security standards and software development lifecycle best practices.
• Evaluate and adopt new database technologies and operational improvements.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12-15+ years of experience in Oracle database administration, design, performance tuning, and production support.
• Extensive experience with Oracle Database, Oracle RAC, Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, SQL tuning, and instance performance tuning.
• Experience with Oracle GoldenGate.
• Strong knowledge of database schema design, data modeling, and Oracle database features.
• Experience supporting large-scale AWS cloud environments, including Amazon RDS, EC2, and EKS.
• Strong understanding of AWS cloud architecture and cloud database concepts.
• Experience working with application development and performance engineering teams.
• Experience implementing database automation, self-service capabilities, and operational improvements.
• Experience supporting complex, multi-platform production environments.
• Knowledge of traditional database platforms including Oracle, DB2 UDB, Microsoft SQL Server, and Sybase.
• Exposure to NoSQL technologies such as Cassandra and MongoDB.
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization skills.
• Working knowledge of information security principles.
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
