Full Job Description
Job Summary

The Senior / Principal Marketing Technologist serves as a technical and strategic lead for the marketing technology ecosystem, bridging marketing strategy, data architecture, and execution platforms. This role owns the design, integration, governance, and evolution of MarTech systems that support global demand generation, audience management, and analytics.

The position operates at a systems-thinking level, partnering with Marketing, Data, IT, and Analytics teams to translate business needs into scalable, well-documented, and reliable technical solutions.

Responsibilities

Marketing Technology Architecture & Enablement
  • Lead the solution architecture, implementation, and optimization of core marketing platforms, including marketing automation, customer data platforms, and downstream integrations.
  • Co-Design and maintain end-to-end data flows connecting website activity, tagging, CDP processing, and activation in marketing systems.
  • Evaluate platform capabilities, constraints, and tradeoffs; provide clear recommendations that balance scalability, maintainability, and business value.
  • Serve as a technical authority and advisor for MarTech roadmap planning and capability assessments.

Data Integration & Customer Data Strategy
  • Own complex integrations between marketing automation platforms and customer data sources, ensuring accurate, timely, and governed data movement.
  • Define and enforce data standards (naming, option values, country codes, segmentation logic, deduplication rules).
  • Partner closely with Data Engineering and Analytics teams to support UAT, lineage validation, and production readiness for new integrations and enhancements.
  • Proactively identify data quality risks, edge cases, and overlap scenarios; document implications and mitigation strategies.

Audience, Segmentation & Activation Enablement
  • Support the design and refinement of marketing audiences, segments, and subsegments, including keyword logic, scoring, and overlap considerations.
  • Review and provide feedback on process flows and implementation models for audience creation and activation.
  • Act as a thought partner to campaign, operations, and analytics teams to ensure segmentation logic aligns with real-world execution and measurement.

Documentation, Knowledge Sharing & Standards
  • Produce clear, concise, and durable documentation for complex technical solutions (e.g., data diagrams, FAQs, field definitions, usage guidance).
  • Translate low-level technical details into accessible explanations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to enterprise-level documentation including capability definitions, technology inventories, and standards frameworks.
  • Set a high bar for documentation quality and reusability across Marketing Technology initiatives.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence
  • Act as a trusted partner to Marketing Operations, Analytics, Data Engineering, and Product teams.
  • Participate in core and advisory forums influencing metrics, technology direction, and platform governance.
  • Provide constructive feedback, technical reviews, and mentoring to peers; help raise overall MarTech maturity.
  • Anticipate downstream impacts of design decisions and communicate them clearly to stakeholders.

Scope & Impact (Senior / Principal Level)
  • Owns high-complexity systems that impact multiple teams and regions.
  • Operates with minimal direction, setting technical direction rather than just executing tasks.
  • Trusted for judgment calls on ambiguity, tradeoffs, and long-term implications.
  • Influence extends beyond immediate team; work shapes standards, frameworks, and best practices across Marketing Technology.
  • Known for turning ambiguity into clarity through analysis, structure, and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 10 years of professional work experience (or equivalent experience) is required.
