Purpose:
To serve as the chief administrator of a school in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.
Education, Training Required:
Strong instructional background,
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction for assigned grade level band,
Holds or eligible to hold a North Carolina Principal Certificate,
Successful experience as a classroom teacher,
Knowledge of developmental patterns of school-age children,
Ability to communicate effectively with adults and students from a broad range of backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership
Lead and support the development and implementation of a rigorous, standards-based curriculum,
Use student data to guide instruction decisions and promote academic achievement,
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, equity, and inclusion,
Evaluate and provide feedback to teachers and support staff to improve instructional practices.
School Operations & Management
Oversee day-to-day school operations including scheduling, budgeting, and facilities management,

Manage school resources efficiently and in accordance with district guidelines,
Implement emergency and safety protocols.
Staff Supervision & Development
Hire, mentor, supervise, and evaluate teachers and school personnel,

Student Support & Discipline

Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including reporting requirements,
Oversee standardized testing and data reporting,

Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual or multilingual skills,
Experience working in diverse or Title 1 school settings,
Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and MTSS/RTI frameworks.
