About the role:

As a Principal Engineer -Robotics you will perform the design and implementation of complex software stacks to implement robotic design and automation, intelligent sensor integration, and complex software architectures.

You will report to the Senior Supervisor, R&D and work a hybrid mobile role, located in Etna, PA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform design, selection, integration, calibration, and tuning of robotic and automation processes with sensor feedback and adaptive planning.
  • Design computer vision algorithms using classical computer vision and modern AI architectures.
  • Must be fluent in software programming of multiple robot commercial off-the-shelf components such as LiDARs, camera systems, motors and their control systems, and middleware architectures such as ROS/ROS2.
  • The job requires Ubuntu Linux and Windows 11 operating systems and the use of offline programming and simulation tools such as Nvidia Isaac.
  • System deployment support including system hardware setup, installation, configuration of the operating software, initial calibration and acceptance testing, and configuration management of all applications and supporting hardware.
  • Expectation of working with end-users to deploy systems and resolve issues.


Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience
  • Master's Degree in Robotics, Automation Engineer, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Interface external sensors and servo systems with operations control.
  • ROS2 environment usage and coding of custom interfaces in C++ and Python
  • Architect multithreaded asynchronous software systems for real-time performance.
  • Experience with computer vision, with both classical strategies and modern AI solutions.
  • Familiarity with and ability to differentiate architectures for machine learning: CNN, RNN, Transformer Models, GNN, Diffusion, and GAN.
  • Practical ability to train canonical base models such as: Yolo, ViT, Convnext HRNet.
  • Familiarity with docker containers and multi container design and orchestration.
  • Working knowledge in calibration and tuning of robotic motion and auxiliary servo systems.
  • Knowledge of local planning strategies for robotics.
  • Broad experience with most foundational robotic algorithms: Kinematics, Controls, State Estimation and Sensor Fusion, SLAM.
  • Experience designing and validating simulation and digital twin environments.
  • Experience with Ubuntu Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems usage of robotics programming support tools. Write custom interfaces to sensors and external control subsystems.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $103,000 to $129,000 per year.
