  • Perform equipment technical bid evaluations and make recommendations
  • Review vendor documents for compliance with specifications and standards
  • Perform field walk downs for information collection
  • Prepare man-hour estimates for proposals
  • Attend meetings with clients, vendors, and internal teams
  • Present technical information for review and procedure implementation
  • Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques with minor modifications
  • Provide technical expertise and training for personnel
  • Lead and review work of a small team of engineers and designers
  • Seals and signs documentation as a Licensed Professional Engineer.

This is a great opportunity to get involved with exciting and challenging EPC Power Projects.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a Mechanical Lead on an EPC Power Project.
  • Provide strong leadership to drive mechanical technical design and project coordination.
  • Manage Project Schedules and Budgets as well as provide weekly reports to communicate project status, issues, and needs.
  • Prepare and maintain resource plans.
  • Prepare equipment inquiry/RFQ packages.
  • Perform equipment technical bid evaluations and prepare recommendations.
  • Review equipment vendor documents for compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Develop job notes and technical scopes of work.
  • Perform field walk downs to collect information required to complete work.
  • Prepare man-hour estimates for proposals.
  • Attend Client, Vendor, and Internal Team meetings.
  • Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review, to implement operating procedures, and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Provide specific to discipline technical expertise to the degree of preparing and providing training for other personnel: both within the company and for the customer.
  • Lead, coordinate, and review work of a small staff of engineers and designers.
  • As a Licensed Professional Engineer, seals and signs documentation produced by own work. May also seal and sign work done by engineers under direct supervision.


Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.
  • Professional Engineers License
  • 15+ years of experience working in the Power, Refining, or Chemical Industries.
  • Strong background in heat exchangers, pumps, ASME pressure vessels, and ASME piping codes.
  • Experience in the specification of Power Plant Equipment including CTGs, STGs, and HRSGs.
  • Knowledge of EPC Project execution model.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required for coordination with internal team members as well as Vendors and Clients.
  • Willingness to learn and work on a variety of tasks within multiple industries.
  • Willingness to travel and work in office and field environments.
  • Strong desire for continuous improvement and career growth.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience as a Mechanical Lead on an EPC Power Plant design project.


Salary/Pay Rate:
  • In accordance with Illinois Equal Pay Act, the expected salary range for this Illinois position, Principal Engineer Mechanical, is between $165,900.00 and $237,473.60 annually. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
