Overview
Principal Electrical Engineer Our
Principal Electrical Engineer designs, develops, and validates new electronic modules for both OEM and aftermarket automotive applications. They provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers, ensuring alignment with best practices and successful product launches. Responsibilities include detailed review of electrical and software requirements, collaboration on electronic circuit design, development of DV and PV test plans, hands-on and external testing coordination, preparation of technical specifications, and support for customer-facing technical discussions when needed.
Responsibilities- System Architecture: Define and oversee the electrical architecture of new products, including power systems, signal integrity, and component selection
- Circuit Design: Lead the design of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits using tools like Altium, OrCAD, or Cadence
- Prototyping & Validation: Guide the development of prototypes and ensure thorough testing and validation against design requirements
- Requirements Definition: Collaborate with product managers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and software teams to define electrical requirements
- Design Reviews: Conduct and lead design reviews to ensure quality, compliance, and manufacturability
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs meet relevant standards (e.g., UL, CE, FCC, RoHS).
- Failure Analysis: Lead root cause analysis of electrical failures and implement corrective actions
- Design for Reliability: Incorporate best practices for thermal management, EMI/EMC, and long-term reliability
- Team Mentoring: Provide guidance and mentor-ship to junior engineers and technicians
- Process Improvement: Develop and refine design processes, documentation standards, and testing protocols
- Technology Scouting: Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability to new products
- IP Development: Contribute to patents and intellectual property through innovative design solutions
- Timeline & Budget Oversight: Follow the defined Product Development Process to ensure project deliverables are on time and on budget.
