Pratt & Whitney is seeking a goal-oriented, detail-focused Principal Design Engineer to support the Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) team in West Palm Beach, Florida. This role supports commercial and military products through production support, quality corrective actions, engineering changes, cost reduction, and producibility improvements. The engineer will work across operations, quality, procurement, engineering SMEs, and outsource teams to resolve technical issues and drive continuous improvement.

What You Will Do:
  • Plan and manage corrective-action activities associated with Quality Notifications (QNs), cost reduction, and production support, driving issues through root-cause investigation and closure.
  • Develop Class II engineering change packages using Pro-Cert methodology and data-driven decision-making to improve quality, cost, and producibility metrics.
  • Lead Engineering First Piece Reviews at suppliers, Cost of Poor Quality and production improvement initiatives, identify process waste, and proactively eliminate recurring QNs and repeat analysis.
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, procurement, engineering SMEs, outsource teams, and suppliers to develop and implement product and process improvements while strengthening technical execution.
  • Prepare and present technical content and program status to CIPTs, CSE/ESTO management, and Program Management, while capturing lessons learned and supporting continuous improvement.


Travel Requirement: Up to 10% | Domestic, International.

Department/Segment Overview:

Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO): ESTO provides dedicated support by eliminating quality notifications, escapes, works stops and enabling producibility and delivery of legacy and new parts, assemblies, modules, and engines. ESTO covers all engine programs and part families, enabling engine deliveries, first piece reviews, first article inspections, analysis automation, process certification. ESTO also supports the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) initiative in Operations. Technical disciplines in ESTO include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, and Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
