Overview

The Principal, Deposits is a senior strategic leader responsible for the vision, growth, profitability, and long-term evolution of the organization's deposit portfolio. This role serves as a key advisor to executive leadership and is accountable for developing and executing enterprise deposit strategies that support growth, customer acquisition, funding objectives, profitability, and competitive differentiation.

As a recognized subject matter expert and emerging executive leader, the Principal, Deposits influences enterprise-wide decisions, partners with senior leadership across the organization, and drives initiatives that impact member experience, balance sheet performance, and organizational growth.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership in shaping the organization's deposit growth, funding, and customer engagement strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of multi-year business plans aligned with enterprise objectives.
  • Evaluate market opportunities, emerging business models, competitive threats, and industry trends to guide organizational strategy.
  • Lead large-scale, cross-functional initiatives with enterprise-wide impact.
  • Influence executive decision-making through data-driven recommendations and strategic insights.
  • Represent the deposit business in executive forums, governance committees, and strategic planning discussions.
  • Develop and maintain product-level forecasting models to support deposit growth strategies, balance forecasting accuracy, and inform business planning and decision-making.
  • Develop organizational capabilities and operating models that enable sustainable growth and scalability.
  • Build strong partnerships with senior leaders across Treasury, Finance, Lending, Digital, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Marketing, and Operations.
  • Present business cases, portfolio performance, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and board committees as appropriate.
  • Balance member, financial, regulatory, and operational considerations when making strategic recommendations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on deposit-related matters throughout the organization.
  • Develops and executes comprehensive deposit portfolio strategies that drive acquisition, retention, balance growth, and profitability while aligning with enterprise funding objectives.
  • Demonstrates deep expertise in deposit pricing, margin management, funding strategies, and portfolio economics.
  • Leverages financial analysis and market intelligence to influence pricing decisions, profitability improvement, and balance sheet optimization.
  • Translates market insights into actionable product and business strategies that strengthen competitive differentiation.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable federal and state laws and banking regulations (including those related to OFAC and Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering compliance) and Patelco Credit Union's policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in credit unions, banking, financial services, product management, treasury management, or related disciplines.
  • Leadership experience managing strategic business initiatives with enterprise impact.
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior executives and leading large, cross-functional programs.
  • Deep understanding of deposit portfolio management, pricing strategy, customer acquisition, profitability management, and funding objectives.
  • Experience developing strategic business cases and influencing investment decisions.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership, ALCO, management committees, or board-level stakeholders.
  • Experience managing business line strategy, financial performance, or P&L accountability.
  • Experience leading organizational transformation, digital modernization, or enterprise growth initiatives.

Target Base Pay

$137,485 - $171,866 / yr
