Position Overview
Apollo is seeking a highly motivated, solution-oriented investment professional to join the Corporate Solutions team in New York. The Corporate Solutions team focuses on developing, structuring, investing, and managing large and complex capital solutions across the Apollo platform, primarily for its permanent capital base. This role will focus on developing, structuring,and managing large and complex credit investment opportunities for the Apollo platform, with a strong emphasis on modeling, structuring,investment thesispresentation,andcapitalmarketsactivities.Thesuccessfulcandidatewillbe responsible forsourcing and executingCorporate Solutionstransactions,including liaising with rating agencies onappropriate treatmentof structured equity investments.This role willcollaborate with the global teamon allstages of the investment process, including origination, structuring, execution, andinvestmentapproval
Primary Responsibilities:
- Identifyattractive transactions for the Apollo platform, workinginclosepartnership withboththe global CorporateSolutions team,Global Insurance Resource & Principal Financeecosystem,andbroaderregionaland globalplatformsacross Equity, Hybrid, and Credit strategies
- Structure complex transactions, with a strong emphasis on financial modeling, credit analysis, legal, tax, and accounting considerations. Priorratingagency experience on complex, structured transactions is a core competence.
- Conductresearch on potential investment opportunities and perform related credit analysis
- Prepare high quality internal and external presentations, including investment committee memorandums
- Developfinancial models and stress cases to evaluate various financing structures and investment opportunities
- Build andproactivelymaintainrelationships with capital markets participants, regional operating executives, and professional services partners to bolster origination capabilities (e.g., investment banks, boutique advisory firms, law firms, tax and accounting firms, actuarial firms, consultants, etc.)
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in either M&A(target industries: infrastructure,energyand other capex intensive businesses), restructuring, or special situations credit at an asset manager or blue-chip investment bank
- Undergraduate degree with an excellent record of academic achievement
- High degree of technical rigor in structuring complex investment solutions to achieve the desired capital markets, tax, ratingagencyand/or accounting objectives
- Fluency with structuring considerations and investment requirements for transactions that will sit within regulated entities
- Demonstrates strong investment judgement via ability toidentifypotential risks in a transaction and proactively work through solutions to roadblocks
- Excellent attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to support communication with external counterparties
- Excels in a rigorous fast-paced team-oriented work environment
