This is a remote position. POSITION SUMMARY

This position is a key member within the Cloud Platform Engineering Organization. Leads cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize Banner Health's multi-cloud infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and OCI. The role helps lead the development of Banner's long-term cloud strategy, ensuring scalability, security, resiliency, and cost-effectiveness across the organization's cloud systems. Works closely with the Cloud Platform Engineering & Operations and Network Operations departments, Digital Engineering and support stakeholders across departments to lead cloud adoption and migration, enhance cloud maturity, improve performance, implement best practices, and drive cloud-based innovation. Serves as a subject-matter expert and trusted advisor, providing guidance and working closely with IT partners and business units to ensure successful solution delivery on cloud platforms. This position works at the intersection of Digital Transformation and Cloud Modernization to ensure that Banner's cloud capabilities align with business needs and scale to meet future growth.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Provides strategic and technical oversight in developing, managing, and optimizing multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, OCI). Leads cloud architecture and governance initiatives ensuring scalability and compliance, as well as partnering with Cybersecurity on security, across all platforms.

2. Designs, develops, and oversees the implementation of service offerings for platform engineering.

3. Serves as a cloud-native technical resource to determine business needs and recommend solutions across the broader cloud and platform engineering ecosystems. Provides thought leadership in cloud native technologies, DevOps, and platform engineering. Provides insights into the partner ecosystem, advancements and emerging technologies related to Platform Engineering, Automation and Observability.

4. Implements and maintains secure cloud connectivity solutions (AWS Direct Connect, Azure Express Route, Oracle Fastconnect or Google Cloud Interconnect).

5. Aligns solutions with standards and best practices, working with cross-functional engineering and business teams. Collaborates with IT team to integrate cloud solutions with on-premises infrastructure that drives innovation.

6. Ensures resiliency by managing critical disaster recovery and response plans for cloud outages, security events and incidents. Maintains comprehensive documentation, disaster recovery plans, and performs ongoing gap analysis to optimize cloud performance.

7. Creates and maintains cloud architecture diagrams. Develops and delivers proof of concepts. Contributes to developing the best internal practices and new, innovative, hands-on service offerings that are put into production.

8. Designs and implements automation tools to enable efficient cloud services deployment and meet business demands.

9. Provides leadership and mentorship to cloud engineers, ensuring adherence to cloud best practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent level of education and experience.

At least 15 years of software engineering, digital engineering and application modernization experience, including a minimum of 5 years of experience designing and developing cloud and microservices at scale. Must also have demonstratable relevant experience optimizing Kubernetes deployed workloads on cloud platform and experience with AI development tools. Must have experience leading peers in the delivery of enterprise solutions.

Proven experience with platform operating models and product-driven digital engineering. Hands-on experience designing and scaling digital applications on cloud platforms, preferably AWS and Azure. Experience with large-scale cloud migrations and modernization initiatives.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Engineering disciplines (i.e., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, etc.).

Professional level certifications on public cloud platforms (Google, AWS and Azure preferred).

Experience in Healthcare Information Technology is strongly desired.

Deep knowledge of at least one cloud provider between Google, AWS and Azure and working knowledge of other clouds.

Experience with cloud cost optimization.

$75.22 - $125.36 / hourBanner Health is committed to pay equity and transparency.
