Principal Associate, Agile Accounting
We are seeking a highly motivated accountant to join the Controllers Group as aPrincipal Accounting Associate with a focus on agile project planning. You will be a self-starter responsible for managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast paced, time sensitive environment. The Controllers Group supports the financial implementation of new products, services, and systems with countless opportunities for knowledge growth. This role will have the opportunity to engage with groups across the organization as part of variance analysis, financial statement risk identification, and issue resolution.
Act as the primary point of contact for Financial Services Accounting projects, managing them from planning through delivery and stabilization
Build and maintain relationships with local and cross-functional teams to support corporate initiatives
Facilitate the use of Agile methodology to ensure consistent project delivery
Present findings, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership
Plan, manage, and execute project documentation, identifying and remediating risks, issues, and dependencies
Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to solve accounting and business problems, ensuring accountability and resolution
Demonstrate organizational agility and apply financial, data, and technology concepts to meet program objectives
Leverage problem-solving and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent
Contribute to process improvements through project development, knowledge sharing, and a well-governed mindset
Participate in key corporate initiatives, including technology and data transformation
Collaborate with internal and external partners to address process or product changes
Provide ad hoc analysis to management and support audit, risk, and compliance activities as needed
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 3 years of experience in accounting, external financial reporting, audit, finance, or a combination
At least 3 years of experience with Google Office or Microsoft Office products, or a combination
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
5+ years of experience in accounting, external financial reporting, audit or Finance, or a combination
3+ years of experience driving projects in Accounting
2+ years of experience in Tableau, Python, or SQL, or a combination

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Associate, AccountingRichmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Associate, Accounting
Wilmington, DE: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Associate, Accounting
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
