Full Job Description
Principal Architects, Systems located in Bothell, WA will own solution design for multiple initiatives, works across domain to ensure cohesive solutions, identify gaps in the architecture and solution designs, and assess and define remediation efforts or mitigation options.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Work toward practical solutions considering all teams, initiatives, and long-term outlook by implementing decisions improving quality, efficiency to achieve revenue, profitability and strategic goals for the organization.
  • Connect business strategies to technology domains for delivery, maximising well-defined structure of T-Mobile business processes, products and capabilities.
  • Lead overall end-to-end solution design, ensure quality, consistency, and alignment of designs to TMUS standards and IT strategy.
  • Lead large initiatives and apply IT standards to develop solution architecture, drive technical strategy and architectural tradeoff discussions.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of how people, processes, and technology interact to perform the fundamental activities of the business in both current and future state and model these interactions to guide technology strategy to better achieve business outcomes.
  • Works multi-functionally to understand the linkage between T-Mobile's business goals, business architecture, and requirements frameworks.
  • Compile, deliver, and promote end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide the evolution of infrastructure, products, and services by applying depth and breadth of expertise in multiple related subject areas.
  • Mentor team members on standard processes in area of expertise.
  • Grasp and communicate big-picture enterprise-wide issues to team.
  • Compile, develop, and deliver architectural guardrails; influence partners and ensure compliance with architectural guardrails within many technology domains that support the needs of products teams to reliably launch products and services.
  • Lead technical solutions on cross domain initiatives.
  • Develops innovative solutions and technology strategy.
  • Owns E2E solution design strategy across teams.
  • Prepare and maintain design work including architecture diagrams, data models, and API / micro-service architecture while supporting the definition and adoption of common software development processes.
  • Write clear documentation describing architecture, design strategies, standards, technical specifications, business benefits, opportunities and threats to craft executive and external materials, including white papers.
  • Collaborate with Senior management to build and align solutions and translate business requirements into technical requirements system analysts and other technical team members drive project design and delivery.
  • Apply a broad understanding of the products, systems and technologies across the business portfolio and deep technical ability on integration of these components to deliver a cohesive E2E solution architecture for a given initiative.
  • Apply a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views of the business unit in the context of the enterprise.
  • Enable consistent definition and composition of scope by domain product, process, experience or capability.
  • Identify impacts and competing interests across all domains.
  • Apply and uses business modeling methods to ensure results-oriented work that can be maximized and reused as a corporate knowledge resource available to project-level initiatives and executive decision making.
  • Review and assess work for coordination, completeness and integration with broader enterprise architecture vision.
  • Ensure that documentation is collected, categorized and available to the team for reuse as appropriate in different projects.
  • Telecommuting is permitted, but applicant must work from the worksite location at least 3-4 days per week.
  • Occasional domestic travel (less than 10%), may be required to support project specific in-person or vendor meetings as needed.


Skill requirements:
  • (1) Guiding and developing applications/microservices using technologies such as SpringBoot, AWS, Apigee, SQL, Python, Java Script, HTML, Docker, Kubernetes, Apache Kafka, Bitbucket, GitLab, Maven, Apache Tomcat, and Oracle/SQL Server;
  • (2) Designing the architecture of overall B2B and B2C applications, handling the team technically to deliver the solution using various technologies like JAVA/J2EE, Angular, SQL, IBM WCS, JMS, and other web technologies;
  • (3) Designing, developing, and debugging the complex and multi-tiered applications on the following operating systems: Windows, Unix, and Linux OS;
  • (4) Utilizing Web, SOAP, REST, and XML services to conduct Enterprise integration, and building eCommerce applications using store front and extended sites model of commerce;
  • (5) Designing and implementing various subsystems of IBM WCS such as Catalog Management Subsystem, Member Subsystem (User, Account, Organization), and Order Management; and
  • (6) Customizing and implementing application caching system and IBM DynaCache, Apache Java caching system and Micro Services for B2B Stores on IBM WCS Platform for better performance of application.

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Applied Computer Science, Computer Application or related, or its foreign equivalent, and 5 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Applied Computer Science, Computer Applications or related, or its foreign equivalent, and 7 years of relevant work experience.

OTHER: Work hours: 40 hours/week. Washington Pay Range: $161,138.00 to $217,700.00/year.
