About the roleThe purpose of this role is to assist the pricing actuaries. The role works closely with the Pricing actuarial team to assist with identifying the requirements and specifications of the pricing models and contributing to their continuous improvement. This will include providing support in the embedding of robust actuarial methods as well as model calibration. This position will provide assistance to the pricing actuaries in respect of case pricing and rate monitoring and ad hoc support with the claims reserving process. The Pricing Analyst will also work closely with the Pricing team and provide support with projects enabling them to be delivered in a collaborative manner.
Your responsibilities- Deliver timely and accurate actuarial input that contributes to underwriting decision making and MS AAG financial targets. Tasks include: data manipulation and preparation; reconciliation of data between submissions; analysis and explanation of large or unusual claim movements.
- Produce draft pricing results for discussion with actuaries/underwriters to including explanation of cost drivers and material movements.
- Review and validate rate change calculations in accordance with MS Reinsurance's technical pricing framework.
- Develop a detailed technical understanding of existing pricing models in order to assist with future development and refinement. Contribute to the development and parameterization of new pricing models within MS Reinsurance's technical pricing framework.
- Assist in the production and validation of portfolio pricing statistics.
- Collaborate and share knowledge with the wider pricing and actuarial team on pricing approaches and analyses.
- Assistance with other pricing team activities as appropriate.
Your profile- University Degree in math, computer science, physics or similar.
- At least 2 CAS exams passed and making good progress towards ACAS/FCAS.
- 2-3 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with reinsurance pricing preferred.
- Experience working with ISO/Verisk data products preferred.
- Strong quantitative analytical skills.
- Strong IT skills particularly MS Excel, VBA and SQL experience desirable.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (MS Power BI or QlikView) and programming (R or Python) desirable.
- Must be well organized with the ability to use initiative and self-manage whilst being able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple departments within the organization.
