Position Description

The incumbent in this position serves as a personal assistant to the President of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and relieves the President of routine and time-consuming duties. May supervise 2-4 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Lead and support the exploration and implementation of special projects as requested by the President.
  • Represent the President and TTUHSC with external constituents.
  • Monitor and communicate state and federal funding opportunities that align with the strategic priorities within the Office of the President.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within TTUHSC to develop strategies and budgetary frameworks to support initiatives.
  • Serve as an advisor of Governmental Relations during legislative sessions to monitor bills and provide analysis to the President.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with TTUHSC executive team members, campus administrators, the Board of Regents, community officials, and state government officials.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with legislative sessions, appropriations requests, and legislative funding.
  • Knowledge of TTUHSC operations and policies.
  • Experience with management of state funding.


Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan website at https://app4.ttuhsc.edu/payplan.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
