Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Congressional Correspondence & Compliance Analyst to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Chief AI Officer (CAIO) organization. This position will support the coordination, development, tracking, and management of congressional, executive, and other high-visibility correspondence and compliance-related actions.

 

The Congressional Correspondence & Compliance Analyst will work closely with CAIO leadership, communications staff, subject matter experts, and stakeholders across VA to ensure inquiries and action items are addressed accurately, consistently, and within established deadlines. The role requires strong writing, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive and high-priority requests involving multiple stakeholders.

 

This position will be fully remote within the United States.

Responsibilities

The Congressional Correspondence & Compliance Analyst supports CAIO's congressional and executive correspondence, compliance activities, and associated action-management processes. This role coordinates across technical, policy, communications, and leadership teams to develop accurate, timely, and appropriately cleared responses.

  • Manage and coordinate congressional inquiries, executive correspondence, Requests for Information (RFIs), and other high-visibility action items assigned to CAIO.
  • Draft, edit, and coordinate responses to congressional, executive, and stakeholder inquiries in accordance with VA requirements and established processes.
  • Work with subject matter experts across CAIO and VA to gather, validate, and synthesize information into clear and accurate responses.
  • Track correspondence, compliance actions, suspense dates, approvals, and deliverables to ensure requirements are completed on time.
  • Maintain centralized correspondence and action-item tracking processes, including status, ownership, deadlines, and final disposition.
  • Coordinate internal review and clearance of correspondence with CAIO leadership and appropriate VA offices.
  • Support responses to oversight, audit, compliance, and information requests involving CAIO programs and initiatives.
  • Review correspondence and supporting materials for accuracy, consistency, completeness, appropriate tone, and adherence to VA standards.
  • Identify emerging or recurring issues within congressional and executive correspondence and elevate trends, risks, or potential concerns to leadership.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, templates, workflows, and other documentation supporting correspondence and compliance processes.
  • Support records management, knowledge management, and organization of final correspondence and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with communications, policy, technical, legal, privacy, and program stakeholders as needed to develop coordinated responses.
  • Provide leadership with regular visibility into open actions, upcoming deadlines, risks, and items requiring executive attention.
Qualifications

Bachelor's with 2-5 years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting congressional correspondence, executive correspondence, government relations, compliance, policy, communications, or a related function.
  • Exceptional professional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical, policy, or operational information into clear and concise written responses for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience coordinating information and deliverables across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, including experience managing multiple concurrent assignments and firm deadlines.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to review materials for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and appropriate tone.
  • Experience developing or maintaining trackers, workflows, standard operating procedures, templates, or similar process documentation.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive, high-visibility, or time-sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.

Clearance Required:  Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs or another federal government agency.
  • Experience managing or drafting responses to congressional inquiries, executive correspondence, Requests for Information, or other formal government correspondence.
  • Familiarity with federal congressional affairs, executive correspondence, oversight, audit, and compliance processes.
  • Experience working with senior government executives and leadership teams.
  • Experience supporting technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital modernization, or other complex federal programs.
  • Experience developing dashboards, trackers, or reporting mechanisms for correspondence, compliance, or executive action items.
  • Familiarity with federal records management, privacy, clearance, and information-handling requirements.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment requiring coordination across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Administration, Political Science, Government, Business Administration, English, or a related field.
