The Preconstruction Manager plays a pivotal role in driving sales performance and advancing key business objectives aligned with the company's strategic vision. Serving as the strategic lead on major project pursuits, the Preconstruction Manager guides opportunities from early design development through final bid and contract execution-directly influencing revenue growth, client relationships, and overall business performance.
DescriptionESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and deliver competitive, accurate, and timely bid proposals
- Represent SCS core values in all client, vendor, and partner interactions to strengthen existing relationships and cultivate new business opportunities
- Lead the comprehensive review of project requirements, specifications, and bid documents using established systems and processes during the pursuit of major opportunities
- Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities
- Manage and maintain the sales pipeline to ensure accurate forecasting and opportunity tracking
- Execute timely follow-up on new leads and respond proactively to incoming bid invitations and client inquiries
- Contribute innovative ideas and process improvements that support the company's culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Prepare conceptual budgets, detailed cost estimates, and final project proposals for clients and stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with project teams during project execution to support successful delivery and client satisfaction
- Facilitate seamless project handoff by ensuring clear communication, thorough documentation, and alignment between preconstruction and operations teams
- Provide sales forecasting, reporting, and market insights to support strategic planning and marketing initiatives
- Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business (relevant experience)
- 5+ years of sales, preconstruction, and/or estimating experience within commercial construction
- Strong knowledge of the commercial construction market, preferably glazing or ornamental metal
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and specifications
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to prioritize activities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
- Self-starter who can work independently
- Demonstrated ability to develop and foster key relationships that promote company growth
