Job Summary and Responsibilities

Performs the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care for patients with overt and covert needs, appropriate to patient age. Assists with managing the patient care administered by other members of the nursing staff. Assumes responsibility and accountability of total patient care and relief charge nurse duties. This position treats/cares for patients of all ages. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values.

  • Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other practitioners as required and adjust nursing care processes as indicated to unsure optimal patient care.
  • Implements patient histories, assesses patient's conditions, and develops individualized care plans for assigned patients.
  • Documents on care plans as patient care evolves, including resolutions of problems.
  • Assesses patient educational needs and barriers to learning to implements patient education and documents teaching.
  • Administers and controls narcotics and medications accurately and in a timely manner and signs out narcotics and medications according to hospital policy.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of patient's progress, nursing care, records and reports.
