What You Will DoThis is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to step into a high-impact, autonomous role within a distinguished surgical program, supported by a collaborative anesthesia team and the extensive clinical resources of the Ascension Saint Agnes health network.
- Join an established multi-disciplinary team comprised of one Nurse Practitioner, seven registered nurses, and dedicated clinical and administrative support
- Practice setting: Outpatient
- Employed position within a nonprofit health system
- Lead comprehensive pre-surgical evaluations and diagnostic testing-including airway assessments, EKGs, and labs-to ensure every patient is medically optimized for a safe operative outcome.
- Collaborate with anesthesia and surgical specialists to determine clinical readiness, providing the final determination for surgical clearance or facilitating necessary specialty consults.
- Current ANCC/AANP Board Certification or eligibility to sit for the exam required
- Eligible for state medical licensure and DEA registration
- Previous surgical experience is required; a background in Cardiac or Cardiothoracic surgery is highly preferred

What You Will NeedLicensure / Certification / Registration:
- Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Maryland Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
- Registered Nurse credentialed from the Maryland Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
Education:
- Master's degree of Nursing required.
Additional Preferences- Proven background in a surgical environment (extensive RN experience in surgery is acceptable) to ensure a deep understanding of perioperative risks and protocols
